Murdered Factory Worker Rawley McMillian Found
Rawley McMillian, a 46 year old furniture worker, was found dead in a hollow spring branch near Mount Airy on Wednesday about 6 30 PM. An autopsy by Dr J L Woltz showed a fractured skull from a blunt instrument, with death ruled due to ruptured brain. Police expected arrests soon on Eldridge Vaughn's farm between Flat Rock and Slate Mountain.

Edwards Acquitted of Murder Charge
James E. Edwards a Mount Airy railway employee was acquitted by a Surry County jury of second degree murder in the July 5 fatal shooting of Jonah Eddie Whitaker near the Mount Airy railroad station. Fifty Planes Arrive for Mount Airy CAP Lamcheon Flight
Dr. Carl L. Thomas announces Mount Airy Civil Air Patrol will host a Lamcheon Flight Group Sunday at noon with about 50 planes from across the state landing by 11 30 a m at Mount Airy Airport Franklin Heights. The gathering includes roughly 100 pilots who will be fed luncheon at the Blue Ridge Hotel and some may remain for an afternoon airshow at Colonial Flying Field.
