Carolina Tire Company of Salisbury plans a fall opening for its 28th retail unit at US 601 near US 52, adjacent to Lowe's in Mount Airy. W. B. Shellhorn says the air conditioned 30,000 square foot building will offer Goodyear tires and GE appliances with about 10 staff.

Dobson Board Faces Election Petition Hearing

New County Assistant Named By Board
At its meeting in the court house in Dobson Tuesday the board chose Charles C. Graham to become assistant superintendent on July 1 under Supt J Sam Gentry. A native of Elkin, he is a Copeland Elementary principal with prior posts at Dobson and Lowgap. He holds AB in business from Catawba College and MA in school administration from Appalachian State University. He is active in community work and is married to a former Rowan County teacher.
