Fire Destroys Dobson Home in Night Blaze
The Dobson residence of J. E. Trevathan, home to the Soil Conservation Association, burned to the ground about 11:30 PM. Mount Airy fire units aided, saving some furniture. the blaze started in a flue and was uncontrollable when found. The home was insured.

Funeral services for Sergeant Dale D. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Wright, will be held Sunday at 2 30 p m at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church with Rev C E Otey and Chaplain J B Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Mount Airy. Wright, born October 4 1922 in Surry County, was killed in action in Japan March 25 1945 during WWII. He is survived by his parents three brothers and three sisters.
