J Porter Hines 59 a successful merchant of Pilot Mountain died at his home Sunday morning after a ten day illness. Born in Pittsylvania County Virginia he lived in Pilot Mountain thirty years. Survived by sister Mrs W J Swanson and brothers Allen Hines and Lee Hines. Funeral Monday at Pilot Mountain Baptist Church with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

Honey Dumped From Truck In Snow Drift Near Durham
Beeman Hawks of Lambsburg lost a five thousand pound honey load when a fast car crowded him off the road near Durham S W The truck turned over in a snow bank and the whole load of honey in barrels buckets and some 40 supers was buried The driver did not stop and Hawks faced a loss of about 150 while neighbors helped recover the scattered honey chunks in the snow drift.
