Glenn Robertson, Beulah School principal, announced John R. Hamilton Jr. will coach Beulah basketball next year. A Thomasville native, Hamilton attended Fair Grove School and Appalachian State Teachers College on a basketball scholarship. He served in the Marine Corps 1942 to 1945, earned a physical education degree at High Point College in 1947, taught and directed athletics at Ashmore Business College, and earned a Master of Arts in Education from Appalachian State Teachers College this summer.

Deputy Mark Phillips said Mabe falsely claimed no employment and wages while running a Granite Street store. Ayers Appeals Illicit Liquor Case to Superior Court
Clarence Ayers of Fancy Gap near Toast was found guilty in Recorder's Court of possessing illegal liquor for sale. Judge H. H. Llewellyn fined him 10,000 dollars and sentenced him to two years, with an appeal to the September 18 term of Surry County Superior Court in Dobson. Bond was set at 5,000 dollars. About 19 liquor cases worth 1,200 dollars were found in Ayers home after a raid by SBS agents and state patrol officers who worked covertly.

Town Leases 500 Acre Land To Surry Wildlife Club

Home Nursing Course Planned for Surry Schools
