Radical changes transform banking

New York report from the American Bankers Association Economic Policy Commission argues that trade-area branch banking will not gain broad support. It highlights rapid growth of group and branch banking systems, with 269 such systems controlling 1922 banks and 15.285 billion in resources. The report notes mixed views from bankers and government officials, preferring branch over group banking within trade areas but not ruling out future nationwide expansion under control of few banks.
