The Geier Merrem Post Amer can Legion Band of Moulton will travel to Austin on Tuesday September 2 to furnish music for the state convention parade. Citizens are urged to join the band along the sidelines to give them support as they march at 6 PM.

Joe Novosad family announce a girl named Georgie Josephine on August 24. Johnson family records a boy on August 18. Ed Kolar couple from Moulton celebrate a boy on August 27.
A good rain fell in the immediate vicinity Saturday morning, easing heat and dust. The precipitation measured one and one-fourth inches.
Flatonia Public Schools will open September 8 with Charles Kasper as superintendent. The Fayette County Teachers Institute will be held in LaGrange on September 12 and 13.
Public Weigher Charles Welff reports 4 059 bales of new cotton marketed in Moulton up to 3 p m Wednesday August 27.
Doris Gene Freytag celebrated her fifth birthday Tuesday with a party for many of her young friends. Refreshments were served at the gathering hosted by her parents Mr and Mrs Victor Freytag.
A large rally at Yoakum’s ball park drew several thousand for the final Sterling for governor event for DeWitt and Lavaca counties. Master of ceremonies H S Paulus. principal speaker Judge E A Berry of Houston. others included W T Browning M D Rayford Mrs J W Cook Newton Crane Eck May and the American Legion Band of Moulton provided music.
Victor Russek and Miss Philippa Louise Boettcher were married at the Presbyterian Church in San Antonio on Sunday August 17. The groom is the son of State Senator and Mrs Gus Russek of Schulenburg and the bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs R B Boettcher of East Bernard. The couple will live in San Antonio where Russek is employed by Humble Oil Company.
Willie Krum opens a new barbershop in the Lueke and Mueller building on Front Street and invites friends to visit. Moulton now operates three barbershops in town.
The Geier-Merrem Post No. 392 announces the regular meeting scheduled during the American Legion State convention in Austin next week is postponed to a later date. Post Commander.
Gus Herzig of Engle defeats J. A. Arnim of Flatonia for Fayette county representative. Herzig receives 2766 votes to Arnim's 2443 in the legislative race.
Sterling of Houston captured the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in Saturdays run off defeating Miriam A. Ferguson by a wide margin. Final figures show Sterling 471172 to Ferguson 279572 with a 91600 lead and counties still reporting may push the majority toward 100000. Witt won lieutenant governor. Allred defeated Bobbitt for attorney general. Lockhart over Davis for state treasurer. McDonald over King for commissioner of agriculture. Neff re nominated railroad commissioner defeating Hatcher.
Mrs Willie Eissler and her sons from Hallettsville joined Miss Hertha Pieper of Houston in Moulton on Tuesday for a social gathering and greeting at local shops and homes.
Reverend William Mueller of Giddings, a theology student, occupied the pulpit in Zion's Lutheran church here Sunday evening.

Mr and Mrs F Wilks traveled to LaGrange on Saturday to visit their daughter Mrs Rudolph Roeder of Schulenburg who had an appendectomy at the local hospital.
Mr and Mrs Adolph Baur of Lolita spent Sunday in Moulton as guests of Mr and Miss Emil Schmidt Elenora Leola and William Schmidt and Harold Vogt accompanied them back to Lolita to pick cotton.
Mr and Mrs Herbert A Fiedler and daughter Lovelle Marie with Miss Anita Grunwald spent Sunday in Houston. Returning home they were joined by Mary Louise Wunderlich who was spending the week in Moulton.
In the democratic run-off primary at Moulton the August 28 vote totaled 629 for Governor Cot and 455 for Mummrane. Lieutenant Governor figures show Balun 860 and Unter paneer 192. Attorney General 331 for Moumc Sl s, PMB 215. State Treasurer 257. Commissioner Agriculture 847. Railroad Commissioner 395. County Commissioner totals include 802 for Ote Ween and 824 for Digoo. July primary turnout was 686. Election officers listed. Burkett defeated Pustka 1313 to 946. Otto Kubenka defeated Mladenka 834 to 568.
Mrs. J. T. Jaeggli returned from Amarillo where she visited her sister Mrs. Floyd Norman who has been on the sick list. She also stopped in Dallas to see her father Mr. William Peters.
Mrs. Minna Schultz and her son Bill Schultz of Garwood travel to Garwood Sunday for hospital treatment. She has been living with her sister Mrs. Hermann Thar in the meantime.
Mr and Mrs F T Fehrenkamp Dorothy Louise Fehrenkamp Mrs Erna Kotzebue and Henry Earl Kotzebue traveled to Alice to attend the funeral of Agnes Zawisch an aunt to Mrs Fehrenkamp aged 85 years two months On the return they stopped briefly at the Irving Ramsower home in Mathie
Carl Huser of Carnation Milk Products Company Schulenburg toured the area last week. He spoke with Eagle printers about a satisfactory milk supply and plans to report milk sales in the district for readers.
Miss Marjorie Johnson age 16 of Houston died Sunday evening from injuries in a automobile wreck near Houston Sunday morning. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery Houston. She was the daughter of Mrs Ella C. Johnson formerly Miss Ella Braun who lived in Moulton many years ago.
The Parent-Teacher Association executive committee met Friday at president Mrs. Sam Jaeggli’s home. Plans for the coming year were discussed, with support for pursuing the Standard of Excellence again. The first meeting is set for September 27.
Mrs John Cinadr held high score for the Bridge Club hosted by Mrs Oscar Dable on Thursday afternoon. Mrs Paul Jacobson took low score and received a bridge score book. Refreshments included cake sandwiches fruit salad and lemonade.
The Catholic Parish of Moulton will hold its annual picnic and bazaar at Hermann Park on Sunday September 7. The American Legion Band of Moulton will provide daytime music and the Ernest Schultz Orchestra of Shiner will perform at night.
The Lavaca County Teachers Institute will convene in Hallettsville on Wednesday and Thursday September 3 and 4. Dean Speck of Southwest Texas State Teachers College will lecture during the general assemblies.
Mr and Mrs G J Bohnenkamp and Mr and Mrs George von Lienen visited in Hallettsville on Monday to spend time with local relatives and friends.

Willie Mae Erna Kortwig daughter of Mr and Mrs William E Kortwig near Moultos was baptized at Zion's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon with Rev A H Falkenberg officiating. Sponsors were Mr and Mrs Martin Wustenbart.
Herbert Meiners and Estella Deason of San Antonio were united in marriage recently. Meiners is the son of Judge L A Meiners of San Antonio, formerly of Moulton. He is a Moulton High School graduate who taught school and now works at the San Antonio post office. Deason is a Stockdale native described as a charming young lady.
Vote totals show Kubenka-Moulton winning with 802 in Precinct 2 and Beou? Moravia? 272 and Novohrad 152. Precinct 6 results list Miradenka-Moulton 324 Hackberry 78 Moravia 122 Novohrad 3 Oak Grove 41, total 568. Overall counts 568 and 834.
Jake Kurz announces the Sulphur Park Swimming Pool between Moulton and Shiner will open Sunday August 31 with a noon barbecue. Everyone is invited to attend.
