An editorial warns that about 30 9 million children will travel to school this September and urges motorists to slow for school zones. It cites 1932 casualties and stresses motorists must lead by safe example to protect children crossing streets and returning home.
Mrs W A Bergfeld hosted the Bridge Club with help from her daughters Misses Mary Louise and Virginia. Four tables played several gimes and scores were counted. Mrs Joe Etlinger won the club prize, a box of face powder, while guest Vivian Riske took a bottle of perfume. Refreshments included pineapple cream caramel layer cake chocolate cookies ham sandwiches pickles and iced tea.
Dr. Edmund W. Darilek brother of Dr. Oscar A. Darilek will open a first class dental parlor in Seguin. He recently completed his course in the Houston Dental College and is described as a fine young man the people of Seguin will be proud to have him.
Miss Palmer Ross of Rayne Louisiana came home last week after an unspecified absence.
Cotton growers in the section completed plowing under the ecotton acreage reduction program last week. Farmers retired 1,665 acres, about half the county total, with Judge A. J. Darilek of Moulton on the county board of control and the local inspectors named.
Miss Frankie Smith returns from Seguin visit with Miss Shirly Koester. Mr. Fred F. Fehrenkamp and family depart for Temple Saturday to visit relatives.
Miss Lorena Ruth Smith returns from a visit to New Orleans and Lafayette Louisiana. Robert Meyer and Miss Gladys Elder of Port Lavaca visited in the O F Knape home Saturday.
Mr. Joe Valenta and his family from Sweet Home were guests in the home of Mrs. Rud this past Sunday.
Miss Lucille DuBose and Miss Jolene Patters of Cuero were guests at the Joe Kopecky home last week. Miss Dorothy Hoppe of Smithville visits her grandmother Mrs Ed Boehm Sr. in Moulton, with R A Ettlinger and relatives nearby. Pete Ettinger of Brenham visited his parents Sunday, and Miss Evelyn Pustejovsky returns from San Marcos after attending Southwest Texas State Teachers College.
Mr and Mrs Edgar Roggen bucke and daughter Allyne Kotzebue of Fort Worth visited relatives here last weekend.
William Hillmer carried the election returns to Hallettsville on Monday aided by his grandson Hillmer Huebner. The pair traveled together to deliver the ballot results and assist the local tally.
Mrs Bertha Brunkenhoefer Will Kotzebue and Jessie Reh mer of San Antonio visited relatives in Moulton the past weekend.
Mr and Mrs William Hillmer with Mrs R Huebner and Mrs R J Leggett traveled to Marlin on Tuesday morning.
Mrs FE J Knesek, Mrs C H Cmajdalka and their children and Mrs Vladik Cmajdalka with children visited in Moulton on Sunday.
Texas voted August 26 1933 to adopt all amendments against national prohibition and four state amendments. Relief bond and home rule amendments passed by over 100000 each. Local options totaled 188 with drys winning 44. Gonzales county legalized beer. Senator Morris Sheppard pledges continued dry fight. Public repeal majority near 135000 and beer legalization about 150000. Sheppard’s home ward narrowly opposed repeal.
John Mladenka and John C. Mueller with a crew including Tom Handsor John Rothbauer and George Perrard returned last Thursday from Ganado where they erected a new bungalow on Mr Mladenka s farm.
A midnight blaze at the Miller cotton gin in Waelder, Texas, destroyed the modern plant operated by electricity with five gin stands. Loss is estimated at about 20,000 dollars, partly insured.
Mrs Ed Kolar hosted a Monday birthday gathering for relatives and friends around little James Edward Kolar on his third birthday. Refreshments were served and guests from out of town included Mrs Henry Etlinger Mrs B H Cordes Mrs Mary Ann White of Yoakum and Miss Adele Cordes of Taylor.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Geier-Merrem Post No. 392 American Legion will meet at the Legion Hall on Tuesday September 5 at 8 15 PM. Officers for the ensuing year will be elected and all members are urged to attend.

The Moulton Fire Department will hold its regular monthly meeting at the American Legion Hall on Monday night September 4. Firefighters and officials are invited to attend to discuss procedures and upcoming events.
The Sam and Will Moore Institute will open the 1933 34 scholastic session Monday September 11. Voters in Moulton cast a light turnout in a special election with 506 citizens voting. repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment carried by about 14 to 1 in the county and 18th amendment retention carried 42 to 8 in Hope. The bond issue was defeated about 2 to 1 in the county.
The young people of Moulton attended a pleasant dance at the American Legion Hall on Wednesday evening last week with about twenty five couples present. Refreshments of sandwiches and punch were served, and chaperones included Mr and Mrs Reginald Smith and Mr and Mrs Henry Earl Kotzebue.
Miss Margaret Boehm entertained the 42 Club last Thursday. Mrs. Anton Kolar won the prize, a linen luncheon set, and Mrs. E Herzik of Schulenburg received the guest prize, a pair of hose. Refreshments included tuna salad pepper cups saltines potato chips pickles cheese sandwiches tea peach ice cream and caramel cake.
The Graf Zeppelin will depart Germany on October 14 for South America and then travel to the United States to attend the Century of Progress Exposition. It has completed over thirty transatlantic flights and once circumnavigated the globe.
Hal Sevier of Corpus Christi, a well known Texas newspaper man, has been appointed ambassador to Chili. Mrs Sevier, formerly Miss Clara Driscoll, is known as the custodian of the Alamo and spent much of her own money to preserve the Texas shrine for posterity.
Mr. and Mrs. Anton Koudelka near Moulton welcomed a daughter Lillie born August 26. Mr. and Mrs. Bohumir Gillar near Moulton welcomed a daughter Helen born August 7.
Fredericksburg voted to re incorporate after annulling its charter four months earlier. The measure passed 642 to 437. The town, once the largest unincorporated city in the United States, sought incorporation to access federal aid for water and sewer systems.
Mrs Anton Dach 36 year old widow who was to die in the electric chair for killing farm hand Henry Stoever died in Fayette county jail LaGrange from a hunger strike begun after her April arrest. Burial was at High Hill cemetery. She left three children and a mother.
A heavy rain fell in Lavaca County between five and six Thursday afternoon August 24, with precipitation measuring 134 inches. The downpour delayed cotton picking but benefited pastures and provided ample stock water.
