Local visits from Shiner and Runge residents

Mrs. Charles Pustejovsky and daughter Miss Millie visited Shiner on Tuesday. Mr Albert Novak and family and Mr Frank Viyvelka and family from Runge visited friends there this week. Mrs Sam Wunderlich and her little daughter from Yoakum arrived Tuesday to visit her parents Mr and Mrs George Baur.

Local residents visit relatives and conduct business

John Blohm, of Shiner, came Tuesday on a business mission. Mrs. Louis Leist returned to Yokum Tuesday after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Otto Urban. John Miculke, formerly from this area and now in Floresville, arrived Tuesday to visit relatives and friends.

Red Cross Elects Nominating Committee for Lavaca County

The Lavaca County Red Cross chapter announces its nominating committee has proposed seven candidates for the executive committee for the coming year. Nominations close by noon before the annual meeting on Friday Oct 29 at 3 PM in the County Court room. All adult county members may vote and are urged to attend.

Ordination at Yokum Next Sunday Oct 31st

Rev Victor A Raska will be ordained a priest at St Yokum Church in a solemn Mass next Sunday. Visiting clergy plan to attend and a Knights of Columbus procession will escort. A barbecue dinner at 12 pm will follow on church grounds for 50 cents a plate organized by Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Isabella.

Texas Motor Vehicle Registrations Soar Past 435000 Mark

Austin reports that by October 20 Texas had 499,434 registered motor vehicles and estimates show the total for the year near 435,000, over 100,000 more than last year. The state also lists 4,136 motorcycles, 3,493 dealers, 21,591 chauffeurs, and 105,065 transfers.

Ex-service Men Urged to Apply for Victory Medals in Houston District
