Legion Post Dance in Shiner November 17

The Kolar-Stanek Post No 201 American Legion of Shiner hosts a dance on Wednesday November 17 at Bluecher Park. Seberger's Orchestra of Schulenburg will provide music. Everyone is invited and a good time is promised. Admission 55 cents.

Cotton Growers Meeting Set for January Attendance

The United Cotton Growers' Association of America announces its annual meeting will occur on the second Tuesday in January at an as yet unnamed venue, with headquarters expected to move from Corpus Christi to Houston after. Forty to fifty counties already organized as units and hundreds of farmers are joining weekly. All ten dollar fees paid in 1920 extend to cover dues through December 31 1921.

Yorktown Fair a Resounding First Event

Yorktown held its first fair last week and it proved an un qualified success with livestock farm products fancy work and amusements including calf reaping bronco busting and a big dance nightly. The community plans to make the fair annual and believes it will aid town upbuilding.

Bazaar and Turkey Dinner by Home and School Club

The Home and School Club held its annual turkey dinner and bazaar at the opera house on November 6 drawing a good crowd. Attendees enjoyed choice meat, coffee, cakes, and various articles sold, with receipts totaling $206. A club business meeting is planned at the Sam and Will Moore Institute on Friday at 4 PM, followed by a social with Mrs. EK Westerhoff on November 26.

New Bank Banquet Highlights Local Finance Leaders

A banquet at the opera house honored the Farmers & Merchants State Bank after its recent organization. F. T. Fehrenkamp presided, with W. T. Brian and Rittner of Yoakum banks delivering banking talks. Plans for the new bank’s operation were outlined by F. W. Jaeggli, with other stockholders stressing cooperation. The social event featured a chicken barbecue and drew many local residents and relatives visiting from Cuero, Yoakum, Shiner, and Fr relations.

New Bank Opens in Ed Boehm Building

A new bank began operation Saturday November 6 in the Ed Boehm’s Sons building on Main Street. The modern facility includes burglary proof safes, safety deposit boxes, and a strong vault. Officers include F T Fehrenkamp president Rudolph Jaeggli and F W Jaeggli vice presidents John Bucek cashier Elo Fehrenkamp assistant cashier and a nine member board. Weather and migration stir Victoria community notes

The region sees cloudy skies and hopes for better weather soon as families leave the area to seek jobs with railroads or other work due to low farm prices and poor conditions. A Mrs L Nitschman dance delighted attendees while visits to Mr and Mrs Alois Raab, John Ducho, and Frank Boehm were noted. The Eagle extends best wishes for happiness and prosperity. Jim Reindl and Miss Henrietta Heerssen also married at the catholic church Monday morning with Rev. Father Wolf as celebrant. The groom is from the Culak school community and the bride is the daughter of F. Heerssen south of town. May their matrimony be blessed, the Eagle wishes.

Mrs. T. E. Flessner Dies at 77 in Texas

Mrs. T. E. Flessner aged 77 years 9 months and 12 days died last Friday night and was buried Saturday in Shiver cemetery. Rev. H. A. Heinete conducted the Lutheran funeral. Born in Petersfeld Germany she moved to Texas in 1891. Surviving children include Dick Fort Bend Jo ho Yorktown George Charles Moulton Henry Shiner Mrs John Aschenbach Witting and Meta Rippen Shiner. Husband died in 1916.
