In Moulton during the General election Tuesday 193 votes were polled. Allan Shivers the Democratic nominee for governor received 174 votes while the Republican candidate got 13.Election officers listed include George von Lienen as judge and clerks Darilek Biehunko Merrem Jarosek Oehl and others. The complete results will be published next.
Most business houses in Moulton will be closed Saturday November 11 in observance of Armistice Day. The Eagle is printed a day earlier this week so merchants may make weekend purchases before Saturday. We appreciate merchants for delivering advertisements a day early.
The American Legion Post No. 392 held its regular meeting at the V F W Hall and adopted a resolution urging local businesses in Moulton to close on Armistice Day November 11 in memory of deceased soldiers. A copy of the resolution will be published in The Moulton Eagle. The Christmas program is planned for December 19.
Clarence Alois Ehler, 19, of Moulton Texas, enlisted in the U S Navy on October 30 195u as announced by Roman E Hanak ENC Recruiter in Charge at Victoria Texas. He trains at the U S Navy Training Center in San Diego California before assignment to a Navy trade school or fleet.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6971 in Moulton has installed a new hardwood floor in its dance hall. A dance event is set for Sunday night November 12 offering patrons a chance to try the updated floor.
The Lavaca district court session began in Hallettsville on Monday morning November 6. A Girl Scout game party will be held at the V F W Hall on Wednesday November 15 from 7 30 to 10 30 P M to raise funds for troop uniforms. Admission is thirty five cents. Mrs Oscar Raab leads the troop and invites the public to attend and support the cause.

Victoria Marine Recruiting office announces an indefinite enlistment period for young men aged 19 to 26. Enlistees receive full benefits, can advance in rank, and will be assigned to active duty or sent to the San Diego recruit depot. Regular or indefinite enlistment requires pre induction contact at the Victoria office in Texas.
Mrs J A Newton of San Angelo Texas attended the baptism of Barbara Jean Williamson and Nelson Wayne Newton at Zion Lutheran Church on Sunday October 29.
Texas peanut growers will vote December 14 on weather and marketing quotas to be applied to the 1951 52 and 53 crops. State and national allotments were set by the P M A and Brannan respectively. The 1951 Texas acreage allotment is 376 732 acres, with distribution through county and community committees for farms that grew peanuts 1948 50. Any farmer who grew peanuts in 1950 may vote.
A $6,330,408 payment to Texas public schools was made on Tuesday, the first installment of $50 per capita for the 1950-51 year. Based on October census of 1,582,602 children, the sum was reported by Commissioner J. W. Edgar. Additional payments will follow monthly or bimonthly as funds allow.
Mrs John Baros of Cost Texas fell from the steps of her home Sunday and sustained a fracture of her left arm at the wrist. The Baros family formerly resided at Moulton.
