Ken seeks approval for a Wyoming colt to prove responsibility
Ten year old Ken MecLaughlin longs for his own colt on the family ranch in Wyoming. His father, a retired army captain, refuses insisting Ken earns a promotion and demonstrates responsibility. His mother persuades him to try a colt as a remedy for Ken’s behavior. Ken selects a yearling filly from a troubled mare named Rocket but Rocket is sold and killed before delivery. McLaughlin then sells Rocket’s offspring except for Ken’s chosen colt. Undeterred by his father’s disapproval Ken persists in wanting that colt above all.
