Bricker carried Ohio. Democrats hold majorities in both houses. Gubernatorial races show Democrats 25 to Republicans 23 next year.
The Evergreen School held its regular PTC meeting on Thursday November 9 with strong attendance. A postmeeting entertainment netted a profit of 17.73 dollars. Evergreen won volleyball and baseball against Moulton High School for the second time.

The Purple Heart is awarded posthumously to Cpl Victor A. Palitza for military merit and wounds in action in France, resulting in his death on July 8. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Anton Palitza of Moulton.

The Moulton Boy Scouts spent a weekend camping on the Lavaca River near Moulton. Funeral services for John A. Nachlinger aged 63 were held in Taylor after he died there on Tuesday November 7. He had run a bakery in Taylor before retiring two years ago due to ill health. Survivors include his widow Mrs Mary Nachlinger two sons Sgt W G Nachlinger of Long Island New York and Sgt Leon Nachlinger of Amarillo two daughters Mrs Mary Edna Camp and Miss Verna Mae Nachlinger of Taylor five brothers Joe Nachlinger of Hermleigh J W and Louis Nachlinger of San Antonio W J Nachlinger of Raymondville and A F Nachlinger of Taylor one sister Mrs W J Cordes of Taylor and a granddaughter Mary Camp of Taylor.
Miss Catherine Wood of Houston wed Cpl. Raymond Doyle of Fort Sam Houston on Thursday November 2 at Rev. B. P. Gurgin home in Gonzales. The couple will reside in San Antonio after a wedding trip to Houston.

Mr and Mrs John C Bares attended graduation exercises at Ellington Field on November 4 where their son James received his commission as second lieutenant at the Advanced School of Navigation. After ten days at home he will report to Lincoln Nebraska.
First Lieutenant Vincent W. Rehmet, serving in the Pacific, has been promoted to the rank of captain. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vince Rehmet of Moulton.
The Moulton Boy Scouts ran one of their most successful camps on the Bohumir Bohuslav place along the Lavaca county river Friday and Saturday. Several tests were passed and the boys enjoyed the event. Komensky neighborhood youths visited and showed interest in scout work. Dan Hrnck and Victor Baborak, Komensky residents, visited and pledged to aid in forming a troop there.

Mr and Mrs R W Apts were informed by the war department that their son Pfc William B Apts previously reported missing was killed in action in Italy on October 10. Memorial services for the fallen soldier were held at the Witting Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon.
