Alfred Filipp Rites Held Here Saturday Morning

Alfred C Filipp Moulton businessman died April 28 at 8:05 PM after a lingering illness. Funeral from Oehl Funeral Home May 1 at 8:30 AM with services at St Joseph Catholic Church. Interment at Moulton Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include wife Della, son Alfred Allen, brothers Adolf Frankie Charlie, sisters in South Dakota Rosenberg and Waelder, and step sister Helmleigh. Pallbearers listed. Out-of-town relatives noted.

Moulton Seniors Honored With Prom At Gymnasium

The 1948 senior class was honored with a gypsy themed prom at Moulton High School Gymnasium on May 1. Decorations featured streamers balloons and a cane pole pavilion with punch served beside the dining area. The program included invocations toasts songs dances and a grand march. Sophomore girls served the seven course menu while Mothers of Juniors helped with the meal and clean up.

Moore High seniors to receive diplomas in Moulton

Twenty six seniors at Sam and Will Moore High School in Moulton will receive their diplomas at the close of the current school session. Governor Dwight H. Green of Illinois is selected as keynoter for the national Republican convention in Philadelphia this June. President Truman is expected to be renominated at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia this July amid questions about Southern support over civil rights.

Funeral Service For Bookkeeper George Stevens Held In Fort Worth

An initial funeral service took place in Fort Worth Texas for 75 year old bookkeeper George Stevens who recorded his own funeral sermon in 1944 and whose farewell was played at his funeral Sunday. After the services his body was turned over to the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston for burial or research.

Traffic deaths fall in first quarter of 1948

The nation reports 6480 traffic deaths in January through March 1948, down 510 from 6990 in the same period of 1947. The drop, about 7 percent, is credited to a nationwide accident prevention drive urging careful driving and watchful walking.

Pavlicek Buried With Military Honors in Praha

S Sgt George D Pavlicek killed in France July 7 1944 was buried in Praha Catholic Cemetery with military honors. He was born near Praha September 13 1916 and survived by parents two brothers and four sisters. Funeral details include services at Oehl Funeral Home Moulton and at Praha Church with American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts providing pallbearers firing squad color guards and taps.

Landrums Welcome James Robert Debut in Houston

A son named James Robert arrived at the home of Mr and Mrs H M Landrum in Houston. The baby was born April 17 and Mrs Landrum is the former Winnie Knape of Houlton. Mr Landrum serves as superintendent of the Spring Branch School in Houston.

Missing 14 Years Sparks Nationwide Search for Leon Studeman

Leon Edward Studeman vanished from San Antonio in 1934 and is the son of Mrs. Eric Studeman of Austin. An Austin insurance agent organized a national search, contacting DPS, the FBI, and Congress, sending up to 10,000 circulars. Studeman, a former meteorologist and Army veteran, would be 45, 6 ft 2½ in, 170 pounds with brown eyes and hair, last seen boarding a train to Los Angeles.

Willene Cagle and Paul Tyler were united in marriage at Brenham Sunday morning. A wedding dinner followed at the home of the bridegroom’s parents in Moulton. A celebratory party for the newlyweds was held at Chapel Hill Monday night with attendance from Mr. and Mrs. A H Tyler and Mrs. August Heyer of Moulton.
