Moulton F F A 4 H Club plans include Governor Allan Shivers attending the V F W Easter Celebration on April 9 with Bascom Giles Jesse James and C T Johnson among others. Shivers to speak early afternoon followed by an Easter egg hunt at 3 00 and a concluding dance.
The Moulton community launches a March 9 to Easter celebration clean-up campaign to prepare for Governor Allan Shivers visit on April 9. Sponsored by the Moulton V F W Post, the effort aims to remove unsightly rubbish and improve the town for attendees. Easter Seals support funds medical care and training for crippled children in the drive. Mayor E C Fehrenkamp issued a proclamation urging citizens to haul away waste on designated dates. The 1950 federal census begins April 1 with mailing of blanks to farmers. officials expect 150 million population and broader data collection than prior censuses. Television audience reached 12 million, with projections to triple by year end. 98 stations active in 59 cities, with 10 more planned, reaching about 25 million U.S. homes.

Emil A Krejci USN son of Mr and Mrs Emil V Krejci of Moulton Texas advanced to Yeoman Third Class after Navy fleet wide exams while serving with the Flag Administrative Unit of Commander Air Force Pacific based at the Naval Air Station San Diego California. The Air Force Pacific Fleet is the Navy’s top air command in the Pacific and includes fleet air wings carrier divisions seaplane tenders and fleet aircraft service and utility squadrons.
Mr and Mrs Louis Pilat of Shiner announce the birth of a nine pound eleven ounce son at Shiner Hospital on Monday March 20.
The Women's Missionary Society met on Wednesday afternoon March 15. Mrs. William Miculka read Scripture and led prayer. The group discussed the March topic To the Jew First and studied Titus. The Texas District report announced completion of the Home Economics Department project at Texas Lutheran College and expended goals. Lunch by Mrs. W K Richter and Mrs. John M Meiners. Next meeting scheduled for April 26.
Cotton ginnings from the 1949 crop reached 15,900,502 bales, up from 14,580,279 in 1948. Texas produced 5,859,727 bales in 1949, vs 3,062,823 bales in 1948.
The census training for Lavaca County enumerators runs March 29 to 31 at 8 A.M. in the Old City Hall. Miss Lanelle Sommerlat and Mrs. Edwin Heek teach with supervision by R J. Tough, preparing crews before the 17th Census begins April 1.
Miss Anita Jemelka daughter of Mr and Mrs Emil Jemelka of Moulton underwent an operation at Shiner hospital Tuesday.
The first Texas Sym Orchestra Clinic will run July 5 16 on the Texas Lutheran College campus Seguin. Don Howard F Webb founder of the Houston Youth Symphony leads with other noted musicians. Open to high school players of all orchestral instruments at Texas Lutheran College and Max Starke Park. A modest 12 day fee covers costs. Students should write Texas Youth Symphony Orchestra Clinic Texas Lutheran College.
The senior boys interscholastic league volleyball competition was held at Moulton High School Gym Friday night. Moulton finished first, Schulenburg second, and Weizar third.
The Moulton Chamber of Commerce met Monday evening at the high school gym. Joe Vanham presided. minutes were approved. The group backs prices at the F F A and 4 H Club sale on April 5 and will parade at the Stock Show. A committee to tally director ballots was named, and a tour of the Luling Foundation Farm was planned.
Moulton Lions Club hosted guests including Don Williams Rev John Motocha and Albert Ermis. The club donated to the Red Cross drive and voted to stage a Fat Stock Show parade with prizes. Officers to be elected in April. a nominating committee was named. Committee to assist Easter decorations at VFW Park and support Fat Stock Show Auction prices was appointed.
The notice reports Mary Rosenauer improving after months of illness. George Baur remains critically ill while his wife is bedbound with pneumonia. Mrs Charles Koester stays in critical condition at Dr Strieder Hospital. Rev Joseph Kopp, treated in Yoakum, is recovering and to return home soon.
Mrs Agnes Malec 89 received a public reception at Hallettsville Parish Hall on Sunday afternoon March 19 with Governor Allan Shivers and about 400 attendees. She is mother of Walter Malec publisher editor of Hallettsville. A Czech-born emigrant, she first came to America years ago and returned to her homeland in 1920 before rejoining in February by air.
The St. Joseph's Society sponsors a social and lunch at the Parish Hall in Moulton on Sunday April 2 beginning at 1 30 P M.
The mayor Elo C Fehrenkamp proclaims the week of April 1 1950 as Clean Up Week urging all organizations and citizens to remove unsanitary conditions and reduce fire hazards through shared city efforts and proper storage of trash and combustibles.

A county edge warehouse rises for road material. Ben Schneider completes a home next to the convalescent home, occupied by Bertha Firasek and Agnes Anders.
Mr and Mrs William Crozier and daughter Miss Carol Lynn Mr and Mrs Oscar Shandera Dr John Rabel and family all of San Antonio spent Sunday visiting Mr and Mrs Anton Raab Mr and Mrs Joe Raab and other relatives They helped celebrate the birthday anniversaries of Mr and Mrs Joe Raab.
Local talent at Evergreen School staged Aunt Jerushy on the War Path a three act comedy at the schoolhouse with capacity crowds on Saturday and Sunday nights. The cast included Sufficiency Fish Leonard Darilek Elder Snuffels Benjamin Kleihege Hiram Fish and more. The Moulton Music Masters provided music and the play was directed by Milton Riske and John Krhovjak.
About 2000 Lavaca County farmers received PMA help in Hallettsville during fall 1949 to plant clover and Austrian Winter Peas in a program costing around 38000 dollars. Legumes are growing well and may be left or turned under. Over 1500 producers have filed winter cover crop reports. remaining filers are expected by April 1 deadline.
The Moulton Chamber of Commerce will hold its second annual banquet in the high school cafeteria on Wednesday evening at 8:00. Dooley Dawson, vice president and manager of the agricultural department at Second National Bank of Houston, will deliver the address.
Miss Edna Marie Gummelt of Houston underwent surgery at a Houston hospital last week and is recovering very nicely. She is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Gummelt of Moulton.
