Texas farmers will vote March 12 on whether to place quota restrictions on this year's cotton crop. If two thirds of cotton growers in all producing states approve the plan it becomes effective. A meeting at the Moulton Public School auditorium March 4 at 7:30 p.m. will inform growers about the program with County Agent G. C. King and others speaking.
Lavaca County reports a rise in voting strength this year surpassing last year by 1386. Officials credit a county press backed push to mobilize voters and welcome many new participants planning to vote in upcoming elections.

Fire Chief W H Pundt and nine other men attended the Yoakum firemen training school Friday night conducted by Frank Williams, instructor at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Moulton reported the largest visiting class and praised the program's fine work.

District Attorney Henry S Paulus of Yoakum visited Moulton Friday to conduct business and greet friends. Anton and Ed Kolar of Moulton with Emil Kolar of Flatonia visited San Antonio Saturday for their brother Joe Kolar who is critically ill. Frank McGrew of Yoakum visited Moulton Friday. Mr McGrew is a candidate for Lavaca county sheriff. Mrs Enoch St Clair, formerly Della Knesek of San Antonio, was in Moulton and Flatonia visiting relatives. she also called at The Eagle office.
The Moulton Independent School District appoints William Wachtendorf as assessor and collector of taxes. All district property will be reassessed for ad valorem purposes, with the assessor available at city hall during the week beginning March 7. Maj. L. L. Kotzebue, stationed in Rhode Island, attended his mother's funeral and later returned to duty after a brief visit to The Eagle office.
Mrs Dolores Hilda Freytag wife of James Freytag died at her home south of town Wednesday evening February 23 at about 7 30 and was buried in Moulton Public Cemetery Friday morning The funeral was at the home and grave with Rev C A Dickson officiating The pallbearers included Victor Vogt R B Papacek Dr Oscar A Darilek Harry Koester Arnid Freytag and Malvin Merrem She was born September 7 1916 aged 21 years 4 months and 16 days and was married November 9 1987 to James Freytag She is survived by her husband her parents Henry and Mrs Wagner of near Moulton one brother Sidley Wagner of Freeport and one sister Allyne Wagner at home The Eagle extends sympathy to the family.
The family of Mrs. E Westerhoff expresses heartfelt thanks for deeds of service, sympathy, and flowers during her last illness and death. Special appreciation goes to Dr. Sam Jaeggli, nurse Miss Stella Darilek, and the Lutheral Ladies' Aid Society for their devoted care.

Geier Merrem Post No. 392 and the Auxiliary met at Legion Hall. A varied program directed by Mrs. Ed Kolar featured readings vocal and instrumental pieces and audience songs. The post voted to observe Memorial Day on May 15 and planned the next meeting for April. They also agreed to beautify the Sam Houston campsite grounds with a marker and to host a Mexican dinner at Kolar Motor Sales with date to be announced.
Mrs Paul Dierschke aged 50 years 6 months 6 days died Sunday at the State Hospital in San Antonio where she had been an inmate twelve years. Funeral from the family home near Moulton Tuesday 8 30 with services at St Joseph Church and burial in Moulton Catholic Cemetery Rev Joseph Kopp officiating. The Eagle extends sympathy.
The Board of Fire Insurance Commissioners announces Moulton has a 15 percent fire record rating for the year. Moulton reported no fires within city limits last year, reflecting strong fire prevention by the department and citizens.

Mrs H Bultmeyer 76 died in San Antonio on Wednesday and was buried there Thursday. She leaves two daughters Anita and Irene Bultmeyer of San Antonio three sisters Ida Lizzie Lucke of Moulton and Mrs Minnie Skyles of Corpus Christi and one brother Charles Lucke of Moulton A longer notice will be printed next week.
