Moulton Branch Farmers League Elects Officers

The Moulton Branch of the Lavaca County Farmers League held its first meeting of the year at the Parish Hall with F. K. Hinck as president and Ad. A. Haas as secretary treasurer. Elected officers include Hinck president Henry Butschek vice president and Haas secretary treasurer. Forty five members enrolled and 302 last year. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday March 20 with details to follow in the local paper.

Donkey Ball Game Draws Large Audience at Herman Park

A large crowd watched the donkey ball game at Herman Park Tuesday night sponsored by the Moulton Fire Department. The Fire Department team beat the Independent team by 2 to 1, with proceeds of $29.50. It was a fun event for all.

County Commissioner Arnold Freytag reports crews have started re topping the Moulton Kamensky road from town to the new road. A push to secure right of way for the Oak Grove road is underway to prepare for all weather topping.

Cuero Couple Wed in February Nuptials at Bride’s Home

Miss Marietta Gerhold and Donald Bunting were married Friday evening at 7 at the bride’s Cuero home with Rev. Hahn officiating. Witnesses were Miss Elizabeth Gerhold and Edwin A Jaeggli. The bride, a Cuero High School and University of Texas graduate, taught at Sam and Will Moore Institute. The groom, from Cuero, worked at J T Jaeggli store. They honeymooned in Houston and reside with his mother.

Scholastic Census This Month

Census enumerators are busy counting children of scholastic age in district schools. The census must be completed in March and parents should cooperate so every eligible child is enrolled. Each enrolled name adds 22 to the district’s school fund.

Highway Meeting At Smithville Discusses Route Completion

An important highway meeting was held in Smithville Wednesday night with representatives from Flatonia Moulton Shiner Yoakum and other towns along Highway 95. The group discussed completing the highway from Flatonia to Smithville to shorten travel to Austin and up-state points. Ed Boehm and Fred F Fehrenkamp represented Moulton.

Mr Johnson Hull and family are new residents of Moulton moving from the Old Moulton section. They occupy the William Hillmer cottage on Front Street and Mr Hull is employed with the railroad.

Frame Garden Demonstration at Moulton

The Home Demonstration Club hosts a frame garden demonstration for precincts 2 and 6 at Mrs. Hugo Fisbeck’s home in Moulton. Joe Zumwalt of Hallettsville will present, sharing A to Z framing gardening tips and a live demonstration to show year round fresh vegetables at little cost. Community members urged to attend on Wednesday March 8 at about 2 o'clock.

Aged Citizen Laid to Rest At Shiner Saturday

Jacob Filip aged 81 years nine months and twenty one days died near Shiner on February 23 after a long illness. A native of Europe he moved to Texas in 1875 and lived in Fayetteville Prabria Moulton and Shiner. Funeral held Saturday with Rev Kostobryz officiating and burial in the S P J S T Cemetery at Shiner. Survived by seven sons, two daughters, 38 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The Eagle extends sympathy.

Founders Day of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers was observed at Hallettsville with Moulton P T A officials in attendance.
