Navy enlistment rule clarified for select draft registrants
The Navy Bureau of Navigation in Houston, in consultation with Army and Marine Corps officials, states that men who registered on June 5 and have not yet been drawn may enlist in the Navy if their name has not been selected at the time of enlistment. The ruling, though an opinion, is unlikely to change. If selected before enlistment, they must serve in the draft army. otherwise they may join the Navy. The note asks newspapers to publish this guidance to inform the public.

Anton Bannert Killed by Train in Flatonia
Anton Bannert former section foreman for the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway Company was run over by a train at Flatonia Saturday night. His body was brought to town and buried in the Catholic Cemetery Sunday afternoon. He was 35, survived by a widow and four children, and was a member of Mozart lodge No. 59, order of Sons of Hermann. The Eagle extends sympathy to the bereaved.

Boy's Leg Broken After Tree Fall in Yoakum
Adam Franke a 12 year old boy fell from a tree he had climbed to gather grapes. His left leg was broken below the knee and he was bruised. He was accompanied by his six year old brother who made a six mile run on foot for help.
