Obituary: Willie Kubicek 68 Funeral Held

Willie Kubicek 68 died. Funeral services were held in Shiner Texas. Rosary and mass were said at Saint Mary Church. He is survived by widow Mary Shin, daughter Mrs. 1 Rt. 2 Shiner, sisters Sophie of Our Lady of Lake in San Antonio and M Gerard of Shepherd Convent, and Mary Balajka of East Bernard. Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by parents Frank Kubicek Sr. and Amelia Branecky Kubicek and brothers John Emil Joe and sister Frances.

Reserves in Training at North Fort Hood Texas Own

The 90th Infantry Division nicknamed Texas Own opens two weeks of summer training at North Fort Hood under a hot Texas sun. M-Sgt Nolan E Wagner of Moulton attends as 1st Sgt of E 367th Regiment and Brig Gen J Earl, a civilian, leads the division. Rainfall this year reaches 21.12 inches, above the 1954 annual total of 16.71 inches.

Funeral Services for John Jobb Sr

John Jobb Sr died at his son Charlie Jobb’s home near Novohrad on Monday June 13 at 9 30 a m. He was 79 years 7 months and 24 days old. Born in Frelsburg Texas he married Theresa Valenta who died February 28 1949. He lived much of his life in the Moulton area and retired from farming in 1925 when he moved near town. Hallettsville Hosts 9th Annual State Championship Rodeo

High School cowboys and girls from across Texas gather in Hallettsville for the 9th annual State Championship Rodeo opening June 22. About 300 contestants will attend with top finishers earning a spot in the National event in Harrison Nebraska. Featured events include tie-down and breakaway roping, bull dogging, and a Queen contest with 35 contestants. Saturday night crowns event champions during a radio broadcast at 11 p.m. on the Texas Quality Network. Moulton Lil Leaguers Edge Yoakum 4 3 In Local Diamond

Dietschke pitched in the 2nd inning for Simper as Moulton Little League defeated Yoakum 4 to 3 in a sportsmanlike game. Yoakum allowed 4 hits while Moulton had 5 hits. Earlier in Hallettsville on Tuesday Moulton lost to Hallettville 9 to 3 with Simper tagged as the losing pitcher.

Lavacans Beat Moulton In Opening SCTL Half

The Hallettsville Lavacans defeated Moulton 6 1 in Hallettsville Sunday to open the second half of the SCTL. Jaro Bollom opened the scoring with a single and scored on James Bluadau's double. In the fourth the Lavacans exploded for five runs on five hits, Lindsey Walker Ullman Bluadau Gaines A Bollom and Peterson producing the runs. Mikes reached on an error and Kubicek singled for Moulton's lone run.

Auto wreck near Shiner involves two vehicles

Paul Mayer of Shiner Rt. 3 drove a 1949 Ford in an accident on Highway 95 about 514 miles north of Shiner Sunday afternoon. The other vehicle was a 1952 Chevrolet driven by F E Drummond. The Freyrolet and the Ford parts indicate a collision as both cars were traveling north.

Rain totals rise with additional rainfall report

Rainfall has increased since last report with 1.5 inches added after a prior week of 1.5 inches. A line of thunderstorms Wednesday dropped .6 inches and Thursday night showers added .9 inches, totaling higher precipitation but details are unclear due to garbled text.

Another A and M graduate from the Moulton area attended the May 27 commencement. Billy Meyer son of Mr and Mrs Wm J Meyer of Moulton completed pre Medical School at A and M and will begin a four-year course at the Texas Dental College Houston in September. He was also a member of the Cadet Corp during his studies.

Youths Return From Boys State in Austin

Two local youths Arnold and David Koull returned Saturday from a week at Boys State in Austin a government training program. A total of 558 boys participated making it the largest gathering of its kind. Arnold was sponsored by the American Legion and David by the Lions Club.

Quinton Raab Earns BS in Agriculture at A&M College

Quinton Joe Raab son of Mr and Mrs Joe Raab of near Moulton received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture with a major in Agronomy at the May commencement exercises of A and M College. He will continue graduate work for a Master's degree and has been commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army.
