Texas War Effort Buoyed by Thousands in Service and Bonds
Texas reports about forty military training camps and schools with roughly 86,000 men in uniform including 76,000 in the army 2,500 in the navy and 1,500 marines. The state awaits 100,000 more to report for training as the National Guard grows to 12,750 soldiers and 500 officers. Texas has invested over 188 million dollars in Liberty bonds and contributed large sums to YMCA drives and the Red Cross. Citizens are urged to donate to the Red Cross and buy war savings or thrift stamps with any amount from twenty five cents up.
