In the first Little League game of the season Moulton and Jettsville square off with Hallettsville winning 3 to 0 after two costly outfield errors. Hallettsville led 2 0 through the third, Moulton replied. Hallettsville pulled away in the sixth as Moulton could only muster one run. On Tuesday the boys swept both A and B games against Flatonia 14 to 1 and 7 to 0.
Joe Fajkus Sr. of Praha died May 21 at Weimar hospital after a months long illness at age 84. Funeral services were held at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia and at Praha Catholic Church with Rev. J. A. Petry presiding. Interment followed with Rev. Jerome Stryk of El Campo assisting.
A publicity barbecue at Leon Kahanek Ranch east of Hallettsville kicks off the 1955 State Championship High School Rodeo set for June 22 to 25. Radio man Pat Flaherty records discussions with Mayor Claude Mullins and originators of St. Claude Mullins as the event aims for national status. The group visited Nance Garner's home, Garner State Park, Mayan Dude Ranch, Bandera dances and movie outings with activities like horseback riding and golf. Chaperones were Josie Lee Petrek and Blaine Dell Brueggemann. Grover Richard Dismuke drove the bus.
A rodeo booster caravan promoting the 9th Annual State Championship High School Rodeo arrives in Moulton on Friday June 10 at about 8 45 a m. About 50 travelers will sing western songs and Deputy Sheriff Gu Henry will play fiddle. The event, organized by the FFA chapter since 1947, features 310 entries statewide and advance tickets via Jack Lindsey Hallettsville.

Jones of Yoakum dies in Galveston at 1130 a m. as Senate debates a large tax bill raising beer tax from two to five thirty per barrel and adding two cents per gallon while highway speed limits and college tuition changes also trigger fights. Trinity River dam projects gain passage. Jones survived by Eunice Jones and others.
E W Pietsch Corporation announces the Florida trip winners from Piggly Wiggly stores in Hallettsville Shiner Moulton Weimar area. Mr and Mrs W A Little, Hallettsville mail carrier, win a ten day all expenses paid trip for two. The Littles plan a June vacation in Florida.

Staff Sergeant Daniel G. Horecka of Moulton returns from a tour in Tokyo aboard a Northwest Orient Airlines plane with his wife and son Donald. The group flew about 20 hours via Anchorage, part of a program to move military personnel and dependents home due to transport shortages. Sgt. Horecka is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ignac Horecka.
