On January 12 the FHA held a library meeting led by President Karen Bohuslav. Secretary Liz Chaloupka read minutes and Treasurer Jennifer Jalnika presented the financial report. Members discussed the cake and candy sale and voted to sponsor a Bike-A-thon for April 2. Diana Wenske, Reporter.

Am Legion Auxiliary Holds January Meeting
The American Legion Auxiliary met on Wednesday night January 5 with opening ceremonies, secretary and treasurer reports accepted. They approved another New Year’s Eve dance to raise hospital and new baby gift funds to four dollars and to cover dues for elderly Rest Home residents. A fried chicken supper preceded the meeting, featuring chicken green beans potato salad and coffee.

Local Health Updates From Shiner and San Antonio Facilities
Sick Mrs Henry Kocian has been a patient at Shiner Hospital since January 12. Shady Oak Nursing Home residents Mr Charlie Zamykal was driven to Luling Hospital by Moulton ambulance. Mrs Brenda Drake returned home from Methodist Hospital San Antonio after eight days post back surgery and is reported doing fine. Mrs Louis Fehrenkamp came home from Nix Hospital San Antonio after seven days of tests and treatment and is improving nicely.
