Inauguration Day Draws Huge Crowd for Gov O Daniel

About one hundred thousand people gathered in Austin for the inauguration of Gov W Lee O Daniel and Lt Gov Coke Stevenson. The oath was administered at separate times by Justices Hawkins and Cureton, followed by a 19 gun salute. the Memorial Stadium hosted sixty thousand cheering attendees as the Moulton High School Choral Club joined in patriotic songs including Texas My Texas and Beautiful Texas, written by the governor.

City Water Supplied to Public School from City Well

The Sam and Will Moore Institute now receives its water from the city well. A two inch main delivers fresh water. Previously the school drew water from its campus well.

The group planned more engaging activities and continued the membership drive. Ad Niebuhr resigned as nightwatchman. directors discussed his successor. A Kamensky delegation sought aid to extend a sand rock road by one mile. The league supports good roads but cannot provide substantial funding now.

Branecky School Club Plans Dance and Penny Bingo

The Branecky School Club met January 8 with President Hajek noting club interests. A penny bingo was discussed and Ed Bra necky was thanked for lights. An executive decision set a dance for January 19. Membership stands at 45. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurek donated a double wedding ring quilt. The next meeting is February 7. members urged to attend.

Former Resident Barbara Nachlinger Dies in Taylor

Barbara Nachlinger a former Moulton resident died in Taylor on Sunday January 15 after a week long illness. She was 85 years old and buried in Moulton Catholic Cemetery after funeral services at St Josephs Church in Taylor. Surviving children include Joe John and several Nachlinger kin with 28 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The Eagle extends sympathy to the family.

The Moul ton Farmers Co operative Gin and Mill Company held its annual meeting with President John Hofner chairing and F W Hans at the desk. Directors were re elected and Louis J Kubicek named manager. The firm reported a strong year, declared a 7 percent dividend, paid 50 cents rebate per seed left and 50 cents per bale ginned. Bobkatz Fall To Shiner In Local Court Showdown

The Moulton Bobkatz lost 33 to 23 to the Shiner Comanches on Thursday night. High scorers include Moulton Kolar Shiner and Novak. Referees were Hugo Gies bers and Marvin Merrem. The Bobkats show improvement heading toward the county tournament.

Mad Dog Killed Near Town

J. J. Schindler of the east side killed a rabid shepherd dog Monday after it attacked his own dogs and three cows. The animal’s head was sent to Austin and a wire on Wednesday confirmed rabies. The dog traveled through town, fighting other dogs before reaching the Schindler place. Those with dogs are advised to watch them closely.

The Komensky P T A held its regular meeting on a Friday night January 6 at the school. Minutes from the prior meeting were read and approved. It was agreed shade trees would be planted on the school grounds. A program by school children followed. The next meeting is set for February 3 and invites all to attend.
