Hallettsville Lavaca county records show marriage licenses fell to 200 in 1938 from 253 the year before. October produced 40 licenses, making it the peak month ahead of June, while December totaled 16, up by one from November.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Zapletal and children and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Konesek Jr of Corpus Christi visited the Louis Knesek home last week. They will extend their visit through this week. Sunday visitors included Ed Lehnert family Rud Huff family Bill Zapletal family Louis Knesek Jr family Joe Kubicek and son and Kid Washichek.
Governor elect and Mrs. W Lee O Daniel will wear all Texas wool at the Austin inaugural January 17. The suit is made from Texas grown wool woven at Texas Technological College in Lubbock. Clarence and Weldon Knape visited San Antonio. District Attorney Henry S Paulus and County Attorney William Allen were in nearby towns on business. John Kubena family and K V Darilek visited Moulton for affairs and greetings.
Miss Frieda Luedecke and Robert Huebner married in Shiner with Rev. J. Garrett of Seguin officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Luedecke and the groom son of Mrs. H. J. Huebner of Seguin.
The farm home of Charles Zmykal two miles south of Flatonia Texas was destroyed by fire last night. The Flatonia chemical fire truck answered the alarm but the fire had gained headway. The cause remains undetermined.
Judge Edwin EK Kloesel of Shiner traveled to Moulton on Monday for undisclosed court matters.
The Eagle staff thanks the Lutheran Ladies' Aid Society for a delicious Thursday lunch sent to the office. Lunch was brought by Mrs. G. J. Bohnenkamp and Mrs. F. Wilks.
