The City of Moulton reports about 75 percent of the street sign project completed with no cost house number placards installed at each residence as part of the initiative.
A representative from the State Comptroller's Office will be in Shiner at the new fire station from 1 30 to 3 30 p m to answer questions and hand out literature on state and city sales tax. Businessmen farmers and the public are invited to attend.
A meeting for Little League and T-Ball is scheduled for Thursday February 24 at 8 p m in City Hall. Members and interested participants are urged to attend.
The Catholic Daughters hold a bake sale on Saturday March 5 downtown starting at 9:00 a.m. The event offers various homemade sweets and baked goods for weekend shoppers. Remember the date March 5.
On Friday February 18 1977 Lavaca County Senior Citizens received a twelve passenger air conditioned Dodge van funded by Farmer's Union Community Development Association and supported by Lavaca County Transportation Committee. The driver Walter Lemmons is employed by Victoria City Community Affairs. Schedules list contact numbers for transportation to doctors shopping and meals in Shiner Hallettsville Moulton and surrounding areas.
An erratum lists donors unintentionally omitted from the Clinic Donor list. Missing entries include Benefactor from Weisser Engineering Company and Sponsor couple Mr. and Mrs. Emil Beran plus Mrs. Lillie Anton Faltisek.
William Henry Hohlt died February 18 after a heart attack at home. He was 63 and had worked 20 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad, later ran an insurance agency, and served as Justice of the Peace Precinct 6. Funeral services were February 20 at Zion Lutheran Church Moulton with burial in Moulton City Cemetery. Survived by wife Lucille, son William Hohit III, daughter Sandra Butler, seven grandchildren, two sisters, a half-sister, mother and stepfather, and an aunt.
Over four calls in one week the Moulton department fought grass fires at Aaron Chudej place near Moulton and at a trailer home in Sulphur Park. The trailer home was destroyed with no occupants inside. Firefighters also tackled rural grass blazes near Way and Adolph Boehm place east of Moulton. total losses not fully detailed.
The Moulton Chamber of Commerce directors will meet on Thursday March 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kloesel Steak House.

The Moulton Farmers Co-op will hold its annual stockholders meeting at the VFW Hall on Monday February 28 starting at 10:00 A.M. The place of business will close at 10:00 A.M. and remain closed for the rest of the day. Directors scheduled to attend.
The St Josephs Altar Society sponsors an annual Chicken Noodle Soup Dinner at St Josephs Parish Hall in Moulton on Sunday February 27 starting at 9 00 a m. Meals include soup bread sandwiches kalaches cake pie and coffee. Takeout containers welcome.
Citizens may file for seats on the Moulton Ind School District School Board by March 2. Forms are available at the superintendent's office. Terms for Board President Daniel Jasek and members Daniel Bohuslay and Gene Selzer expire, with Selzer seeking re election.
The Moulton Farm Bureau will hold its monthly meeting Thursday February 24 at 7 30 p m at Sulphur Park. A social will follow.
The Moulton VHT met Thursday February 17 1977 at 7 30 pm in the school cafeteria. Sixteen members along with husbands and advisor Mrs Margaret Martin shared a covered dish supper. Danny Beck spoke on wills and tax law changes before business notes and a planned snack and soda sale for April 1 1977 at the Fat Stock Show and Sale.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Biehunko and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Biehunko with their baby attended Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville. During the service the late publisher Walter Malec, father of Mrs. Biehunko, received the Papal Award Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice in the form of a medal and diploma. The families then dined at the Smokehouse.
28 members of the Houlton FFA Chapter and Advisor Alan Zahradnik plan a bus trip to Houston for FFA Day at the Livestock Show. They depart 6:00 A.M. and arrive about 8:30 A.M. to view livestock, attend the Rodeo with guest Mac Davis, and return to Moulton around 7:00 P.M.
Sammie Koudelka's Bobkatz travel to McMullen ISD for a bi district contest at East Central High School Gym San Antonio on March 1 at 730 PM. Local buses depart Moulton at 5 PM with students and adult chaperones. Call R L Orsak for bus chaperone availability.
The Moulton Bobkatz dominated Prairie Lea 92 to 44 to claim the District SOE title last Tuesday night. They led 27 9 after one quarter and 47 22 at halftime, widening the margin to 63 30 by end of the third before adding 29 points in the final period.
Artie Weathers of the Moulton FFA Chapter was one of 10 contestants catching calves in the Calf Scramble at the San Antonio Rodeo. On February 18 at Joe Freeman Coliseum, he caught the last calf and earns $30 for his Supervised Experience Program, accompanied by advisor Alan Zahradnick.
Student representatives from Texas A&M University's Department of Urban and Regional Planning will conduct a housing survey in Moulton and Lavaca County February 25 to 27. The study aims to gather data on local housing conditions and needs for planning purposes.
Daniel Jasek announces he will not seek re election to the Moulton Independent School District school board after six years as a trustee. He thanks supporters and cooperation from voters during his tenure.
