Assassination Attempt on Roosevelt in Miami
Giuseppe Zangara fired five shots at President elect Franklin D. Roosevelt in Miami on February 15. Five bystanders were wounded, including Mayor Anton Cermak of Chicago and Mrs. Joe Gill of Miami. Zangara pleaded guilty in Miami court and received an 80 year sentence.

Child Dies at Damon Buried at Moulton
Irene Marie Guthier aged 1 year 28 days daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles P Guthier of Damon Texas died February 14 of influenza and complications. The body was brought here and the funeral held Thursday from the home of her grandparents Mr and Mrs August Elster south of town. Burial was in the Moulton Catholic Cemetery Rev Joseph Kopp conducted the rites. Mrs Guthier also ill with influenza was unable to attend. The Eagle extends sympathy to the family.

Mrs Agnes Pannewitz Buried at Shiner
Mrs Agnes Pannewitz aged about 68 died in Shiner on Wednesday February 15 and was buried February 16 in Shiner City Cemetery. Surviving are four daughters Mrs Elsie Elliot of San Antonio Mrs Frank Hillmer of Nordheim Mrs Flora Mae Lichey and Mrs J B Henkhaus of Shiner and several grandchildren. Her husband once served as postmaster of Shiner and died 18 years ago. The Eagle extends its sympathy to the bereaved.

Child Tasler Dies From Household Scalding Incident
Francis Joe Tasler aged 234 years, son of Mr and Mrs Joe Tasler, died after being scalded in a vessel of hot water at their home near San Antonio. He had been brought to a Shiner hospital Thursday and passed away Saturday. Mr and Mrs Lee Jarosek visited in Schulenburg last Sunday.
