Bryan Texas February 18 News has been received of the recapture of Joe Carter by Sheriff Berry of Madison county. The case moved through Grimes and Madison counties, reached a five year sentence, and Carter fled again the same night. He was at large until yesterday.

Livingston Texas February 15 the state through County Attorney P 2 Rowe has secured a writ of injuri against Frank Hennington John Henry W H Henry and Walter Peebs restraining them from violating state revenue laws by selling intoxicating liquors in a local option precinct Judge L B Hightower of the Ninth District granted the writ making it remonable to the May term of the Polk County district court
Beaumont today marked the renewal of Pearl Street at the street end with shell ballast prepared for about two blocks. M. A. Orlepp, in charge, expects the line to be in operation by May 1.
At Gopher Hole mines four miles south of Liano Texas, 500 pounds of rock fell forty feet striking T. S. Forehand. His right thigh was mangled left foot mashed and head crushed. He is alive but likely to die.
Byron Donaldson, a young bridge laborer in Waco, fell about forty feet from a timber on the Brazos river bridge this afternoon. He landed in the river bed and escaped with no broken bones, an apparent miraculous survival attributed to his fall into a bottom trench.

Jennings Louisiana February 17 a new deep water well on Albert Andersons rice farm southwest of town tested yesterday delivering 2500 to 3000 gallons per minute and a ten inch spray. The well includes eighty feet of screening 100 feet of coarse gravel and thirty feet of hard clay enabling pump submersion. Last year he produced fourteen sacks of rice per acre earning 3.50 to 4 per sack and plans for the dry season ahead.

Dordica the Hindoo twin, separated from Radica on February 9, died suddenly at seven in the morning in Paris. Cause is advanced tuberculosis from which she suffered. The twins had shown improvement last week and played happily with toys. Radica, unconscious of Dordica’s death, continues to progress.
San Angelo February 17 The Concho Water Power company has set the contract for building its dam at about $5000. The stone and cement arch structure will resist the stream flood waters with faultless construction and work starts at once to complete the project.
In a February patrol near Johanneburg a British party clashed with Boers on a farm ridge. Eight British officers and men made a gallant stand with carbines and revolvers but were overpowered. Two officers and ten men were killed and several officers and forty men wounded before retreating to a blockhouse.
Mrs. Jesse M. Vardaman marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their Rector area home near Denton Texas on February 17. The couple wed in Casey County Kentucky in 1852 and were joined by hundreds of friends and relatives, highlighting their standing as prominent county citizens.
