In Hillsboro Texas on February 8 Nora Easter age one died after attempting to start a fire with kerosene. She and other children were near an old stove when she poured kerosene into the stove and the blaze consumed her.
Detroit February 11. Vice President F C Andrews of City Savings Bank was arrested and arraigned for willful, fraudulent securing of over $1,000,000 from the bank without directors knowledge. Cashier Henry C Andrews is ill. total indebtedness reaches about $1,158,000 plus $662,090 in certified checks. Exam shows six weeks of undisclosed overdrafts and unrecorded transactions. Depositors at the Gratiot Avenue branch faced relief amid widespread nervousness and scenes as the bank suspended operations.
Theodore Roosevelt Jr aged son of President Roosevelt is seriously ill at Groton Mass with double pneumonia. Official bulletin notes higher temperature weaker respiration but stable pulse and no immediate prognosis. Doctors Shattuck Warren and Dr Alex Lambert have joined to aid treatment as the case worsens.
Houston on February 11 reports Mrs J D Weston 1417 Texas Ave was robbed near the Austin Street corner by a tall man in a light overcoat and slouch hat who seized a brass chain and purse containing 9.80 dollars and a 40 dollar gold pin with sixty years of family value. Her daughter accompanied her. the thief fled before help arrived.
Washington February 11 The rivers and harbors committee began Texas matters today with secrecy. Members pledged not to discuss items or conclusions reached. The bill will be reviewed again before presentation to the house and is expected to keep similar funding to last session.
In Midland Texas on February 11 a local prohibition election produced 150 votes for prohibition and 161 against. The result shows a slim majority opposed to continuing the ban in this precinct.
Greenville Texas Feb 11 Senator Stafford of the legislative investigating committee secured depositions of an employee of the senate for use by the committee.
In Galveston on February 11 W A McVitie and his wife were injured when a street car collided with their overturned carriage at Tremont and Post Office streets. Driver A B Lyon was thrown, the McVities were trapped and later removed, Mrs McVitie fainted, and both Mr McVitie and the driver suffered serious injuries.
Representative Ball conferred with Speaker Henderson about his bill to create a new federal judicial district in Texas and establish a Houston court. Henderson said he would not oppose the bill if the judiciary committee issues a favorable report, boosting prospects. Lanham pushes for an early committee report.
Fort Worth reports that Dr. Carlton aged eighty, president of Carlton Female College for thirty years, is dying and not expected to live tonight after Bonham sent the urgent message to Rev. McPherson asking him to come at once.

London Feb 10 Lord Kitchener telegraphs a combined British march to trap Gen Dewet. Dewet with men and cattle struck the Kroonstadt Lindley blockhouse line at dawn and burst a fence, scattering and evading capture. Several men were killed in the confusion.
