Moulton Sets Fiscal Year And Delinquency Penalties

City of Moulton adopts an ordinance fixing the fiscal year from August 1 to July 31, requiring sworn property inventories by January 1, and setting due dates for ad valorem taxes with escalating penalties through July 1. The measure includes delinquency interest and repeals prior ordinances, with emergency passage effective upon approval February 14, 1988.

P.T. A. Meeting At Schoolhouse Highlights Banner Award

The Moulton Parent-Teacher Association held its regular Wednesday meeting at the school with attendance higher than recent sessions. A banner was awarded to the grade with the most mothers present, the third grade having kept it since fall. Plans for a benefit bridge and a 42 party were discussed along with P.T.A. objects and officer duties. Mrs. O. F. Knape spoke on the Children's Endowment Fund.

Moulton Boy Scouts Observe Anniversary

The Moulton Boy Scouts marked their twenty eighth anniversary by wearing uniforms to school all week. They sponsored a basketball game Wednesday night and earned a neat profit to help fund travel expenses for a trip next summer.

City Purchases Water Works

The City of Moulton becomes owner of all holdings of the Moulton Water Works Company. County Attorney William Allen draws up the papers and possession is set for April. The sale was authorized at the stockholders meeting held January 27.

Congressman J. J. Mansfield appoints Dan H. Fertsch and Arnold Mozisek as second alternates for admission to the United States Military Academy. They will take entrance examinations in San Antonio on March 1.

LaGrange Couple Celebrates Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. John H. Wessels of Halstedt near LaGrange marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary with relatives and friends. Mr. Wessels is 74 and Mrs. Wessels 78. Ernst John Kuntschik age 16 died February 1 after a two week illness. Burial was February 8 at Gonzales new Catholic Cemetery with Rev. James Wichterlich presiding. He leaves parents two sisters three sisters and two brothers, plus a twin brother Edgar and many relatives.

Sixteen to Five Vote Bond Election Plan

The Moulton Business Men's League voted 16 to 5 in favor of a bond election to improve lateral roads in Precinct 6. A seven member committee, one from each community, will oversee the planned $70,000 bonds and road construction program pending a petition to create a special road district.

The Moulton Boy Scouts sponsored two basketball games at Herman Park hall on Wednesday night February 9. Hallettsville defeated the local team 21 to 18 in the first game and the lean boys of town beat the fat boys 20 to 18 in the second. Public sentiment favors another similar event.

Mrs. W. J. Spear formerly of Moulton now residing in Flatonia underwent a serious surgical operation at La Grange hospital on February 7. She is recovering nicely. Miss Allyne Spear stays with her mother at the hospital.

Jeanette Jalufka daughter of Mr and Mrs Emil Jalufka of this place attends St Joseph's School fell Tuesday morning and sustained a fracture of her right arm above the wrist. The Regie hopes the injured member will mend quickly.
