Southwestern Bell seeks rate hikes in Moulton
Southwestern Bell Tele-Company asked city authorities to raise local service rates to offset losses over $500 monthly and fund expansion. Manager Floyd Reed noted postwar costs and rapid growth since 1946, with 370 telephones in service today versus 147 then. New main rates would be 7.00 for business lines, 4.00 for individual residences, and 3.25 for two party lines.
