30 Cents Is Base Price of Cotton
The Agriculture Department announced the base price support for the 1951 crop cotton will be at least 29.68 cents a pound for middling 7/8 inch, down slightly from last year's 29.70 cents. Better grades earn higher rates while current market prices run higher. In mid January farmers averaged about 42 cents per pound as prices rose after last year’s small crop.
