The House Armed Services committee approved 32 to 0 a bill extending the military draft for four years. Houston reports a 15 cent cut in coffee prices as A and P Food Stores and Safeway Stores Inc announce lower costs. The Bobkatz beat Shiner 64 to 53 in the A game with the B game 45 to 11. Rothbauer led Moulton with 20 points as the team moved to 2nd in district standings. The first half margin was 9, third quarter 22 to 13, but Shiner outscored late in the fourth.
Cpl. Robert Berckenhoff son of Mr and Mrs Liberal Berckenhoff Route 1 Moulton returns to the U S from Germany after serving as a cannoneer in Battery D 1st Infantry Division 48th Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion He entered the Army in April 1953 and has been in Europe since November.

Purchase orders expire 120 days after issuance. Hay payments limited to deliveries through March 31 1955. FHA committee meets February 15 for final eligibility approvals.

Samuel Barta and Dennis Latsky displayed registered jerseys at the Houston Fat Stock Junior Dairy Show. Sammy earned two blue ribbons and a red. Dennis took a red. Over 250 dairy cattle made it the second largest Texas Junior Dairy Show. Both boys ranked in the top twenty showmanship from about 120 competitors, earning awards.
