First Land Deal Under G I Setup In Texas

The first deal under the new G I set up was completed Friday February 3 when Frank Meyer sold 101.2 acres four and one half miles west of Moulton to the Veterans Land Board which then sold the place to Alfred Dietschke. Moulton voters will go to the polls the first Saturday in April to elect school trustees in an important election.

Sixteen Foxes Killed In Three Months Near Hallettsville

Felix Mozisek says more than 16 foxes averaging about thirty pounds apiece have been killed in three months near his home four miles northwest of Hallettsville near Witting bridge. The foxes were hunted with trained Walker hounds owned by Red Calhoun, kept at the Mozisek farm. Hunters in the area skinning foxes is uncommon due to pelts selling for about thirty-five cents, though tails are clipped for trophy collections.

13 Month Old Boy Undergoes Operation Near Moulton

David Muehlstein Jr., 13 months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Muehlstein Jr., near Moulton, was operated on for rupture at Shiner Hospital on Wednesday February 1. He is recovering well and returned home Tuesday.

Waelder Wildcats Triumph In Close Doubleheader

Waelder Wildcats edged the Moulton Bobkatz 41 to 38 in a tight district contest at Waelder gym. Half time stood 18 to 14 with Waelder in control, and the win virtually seals the Wildcats district championship as they remain undefeated.

American Legion Post Holds Regular Meeting

The American Legion Post held its regular meeting Tuesday night with fifty three members present. Kenward Kolar, recently ill, was taken to Brooke General Hospital San Antonio. The post voted ten dollars to the polio drive and agreed to help with an Easter egg hunt. It also sponsored the American Heart Fund Drive. A committee of Frank Luksovsky Julius Gertner Emil Rehak Zat Johnson and Lee Gibson was appointed to solicit contributions. The post opposed the Veterans Administration part of the Hoover Commission plan.

Polio Fund Campaign Extended in Lavaca County

Lavaca county chairman George Kallus announced the infantile paralysis fund drive is extended through February 15. Half of donations stay in the county and the rest go to the National Foundation. Make your donation now to push the county over the top.

Lavaca County PMA chairman Edgar Freytag announced a pasture improvement program effective February 1 for February March and April with a $20 farm limit. The plan funds seeding of pasture grasses and legumes using seeds such as carpet buffalo dallis Rhodes and clover to restore or improve land. farmers must present dealer sales receipts for approval.

The Moulton CYO basketball team defeated Yoakum City 59 to 44 at Moulton High School Gymnasium last Thursday night. Batey led scorers with 29 points as the game remained competitive throughout.

District 68 B meet plans set for Moulton area

At a February 8 meeting at Moulton High School eight area schools finalized dates for the District 68 B Interscholastic League meet to be held in Moulton in March and April. The schedule includes playground ball and volleyball events on March 10 and 17 and 24 with all literary and field events April 13 to 15.

Gonzales County official G. E. Bradley dies at 58

Funeral services for G. E. Bradley 58 longtime Gonzales county superintendent were held in Gonzales after he died of a heart attack Sunday. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery. He served longer than any other Gonzales official and is survived by his widow a daughter Mrs Henry Votine and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs Minnie Wiseman Hurt in Fall

Mrs Minnie Wiseman aged 93 suffered bruises when she fell at her daughter Mrs P E Cooper’s home in Flatonia. She is reported recovering nicely. Mrs Wiseman formerly resided in Moulton.
