America's Boy Scouts and leaders totaling 2,300,000 celebrate the fortieth anniversary from February 6 to 12. The article cites the program's long history since 1910 with millions of beneficiaries and urges more institutions and men to volunteer.

She is the daughter of Mrs. R. B. Papacek.
The PMA sets March 1 as the deadline to file new cotton allotment applications. Eligibility requires good intent and no coercion or schemes to boost allotments for any old grower. Applications are open to those who did not grow cotton in 1946 1947 or 1948, the base period for regular allotments.
The State Highway Engineer is directed to surface a 13 mile stretch of U S Highway 77 from the Fayette County line to Hallettsville in Lavaca County. The project calls for additional surfacing at an estimated cost of 32000 dollars and should proceed in the most feasible and economical manner.
The Big Three Welding Co. of Houston offers a free three night welding school for Lavaca County farmers. If at least 10 farmers show interest, the session may be held at Yoakum Airport. Farmers should send a card to County Agent John V. Lindsey by February 13 to indicate interest.
The Komensky PTA holds its regular meeting Friday February 3 at 7 30 PM. School trustees bought a 16MM talking projector to aid teaching and a public film show will follow the meeting for patrons to view the device and presentation.
Census figures indicate Lavaca County ginned 25 413 bales of cotton from the 1949 crop by January 16 1950, up from 20 083 bales ginned by January 16 1949.
The Moulton PTA will hold a regular meeting in the local gym on Wednesday February 8 at 7 30 PM. The topic is Teamwork for Good Citizenship with Father Matocha as speaker. Mr Strandtman and Mr Batey oversee the program. All are welcome to attend.

Mrs George Matula nee Katherine Rothbauer of Moulton, 37, died January 25 in Denton Hospital after months of illness. Funeral held January 27 at Smith Funeral Home Moulton with St Josephs Church rites. Survived by husband George Matula one daughter Georgie Mae two brothers two sisters. Rosary January 26 at 8 PM. pallbearers all local men.
The Moulton CYO basketball team will host Yoakum City Team at the Moulton Gym Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Public attendance encouraged.
The Baursville School PTA will hold its regular meeting Thursday February 9 at 7 30 P M.
Adt A Haas of Moulton completed a floor covering and tile work course at the Armstrong Regional Training School in San Antonio last week.
Albert Pilat Jr. underwent an appendectomy at Shiner Hospital Monday morning and is reported to be getting along nicely.
Mrs. Oscar Null 57 of Waelder died at Crew Hospital in Gonzales on Monday. Burial was held Wednesday afternoon in Elm Grove Cemetery. Survived by five sons Oscar Jr Robert Paul Louis B and Ralph Null and two daughters Mrs Otis Halliburton and Mrs Marie Beal.

Prominent Wharton Texas businessman George Miculka died Monday January 30 at 9 20 AM in Wharton Hospital after a 24 hour illness. Funeral services were held January 31 in Wharton and he was buried at Woods Cemetery West Point. He was born January 23 1912 in Cistern and survived by his wife Pauline Moore Miculka and two sons. He previously lived in LaGrange and Smithville and operated a service station in Wharton.
Mrs. Fannie Romaine Laqua nee Magnus died Monday January 30 at 9 55 PM at the home of her daughter and son in law Mrs and Mrs Joe Trojacek in Flatonia where she had lived ten years in ill health for a decade She was 79 years old Born January 26 1871 near Flatonra she married Peter Seibert in 1889 and Joe Laqua in 1896 Survived by three daughters and five sons plus 29 brain children and 23 great grandchildren Funeral services were held at Smith Funeral Chapel Moulton February 1 and at Witting Cemetery with Rev K Windecker officiating
A large crowd attended a free street show in Moulton Saturday afternoon sponsored by the Moulton Chamber of Commerce and local business leaders. Bob and Mrs. McLain performed roping tricks with him driving a car blindfolded, joined by Sheriff Theo Long and a highway patrolman. The couple also showed how to escape a prison straight jacket as trapeze acts completed the program.
Washington Jan 31 The house passed and sent to the senate a bill allowing allotment of up to 1 400 000 acres to cotton planting. Several dairy country members irked by Southern support of legislation repealing oleo margarine taxes opposed the cotton bill.
Anton Meyer brought a large wolf to town Thursday afternoon after catching it the night before. Authorities note several wolves are reported in this section, indicating a rising presence.
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Speed and their son left Saturday for Gonzales to establish a home. Mr. Speed repairs and sells sewing machines.
R Riesskogal of the Texas Highway Department met Flatonia Garden Club leaders including Mrs J H Durham and Mrs H H Stein to discuss beautification of approaches to Flatonia on U S highways 90 and 95. Local officials Mayor Dr L A Wheeler and Lt Harry Swofford attended along with Rotary representatives.
John Peters, formerly of Moulton, died in Corpus Christi last Friday.
Mr A J Kopecky and family of Brenham visited Moulton on Sunday as guests of Mr and Mrs Jno M Meiners.
