Program at Zions Lutheran Church Moulton Texas

A Sunday program at Zions Lutheran Church in Moulton Texas on February 12 begins at 7 30 PM led by Mr J T Jaeggli. The lineup includes hymns readings prayers a juvenile orchestra piano solos essays about Abe Lincoln vocal and piano duets and an offertory followed by a prayer and benediction.

Pretty Shower Honors Miss Pavlica in Gillett

A Saturday afternoon shower hosted at the home of Mr and Mrs Leo Pavlica honored Miss Marie Pavlica who will wed Mr Norman Hartmann of Nixon on February 20. Rose Pavlica assisted with gifts and thanks were given. refreshments included hot chocolate cakes and pies.

School Benefit Doings in Bearsville and Evergreen

The Bearsville Parent Teacher Association will stage a festival at the schoolhouse on Sunday February 12 to raise funds for the school. A Valentine dance will follow at Henkhaus Hall on Tuesday February 14 for the Evergreen school's benefit.

Evergreen school girls and boys teams faced Green school teams last Monday. The girls won 3 to 0, while the boys lost to Green 2 to 1.

Chemnitz Family Relocates to Fredericksburg for Confectionery

Mr Herman Chemnitz and his family moved Saturday to Fredericksburg to reside and run a confectionery. He previously managed the Moore Hotel for seventeen months. The Eagle wishes them health and prosperity in their new venture.

Birthday anniversaries mark social gatherings

Mrs Charles Locke and Mrs F L Filippp entertained relatives and friends at their homes Thursday February 2 for their birthday anniversaries. Mrs W F Oehl hosted a birthday party Monday afternoon with refreshments for a group of relatives and friends.

Graves Return to Moore Hotel in Moulton

Mr W E Graves and family return to Moulton last week and on Saturday morning assumed management of the Moore Hotel. They had previously run the hotel before leaving for San Antonio where they operated a rooming house. The Eagle welcomes them back.

Community health program on diphtheria at school

A large audience attended Health Program No 2 titled A Community Without Diphtheria at the school auditorium under the PTA. Dr J W Dozier spoke on diphtheria prevention and toxin antitoxin while Dr P O Pac urged isolation and fumigation to curb spread. Edith von Lienen urged education and regular child health checks.

Mrs L Lubben Dies In Galveston At 89

Mrs L Lubben aged 89 died at her Galveston home after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Old City Cemetery with Rev Victor Albert of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. She is survived by four sons John Lubben of Dallas H W Lubben Will Lubben and Frank Lubben of Galveston and a sister Mrs Henry Meyer of LaGrange. A native of Bremen Germany she came to Galveston in 1860.

A mass meeting at the Moulton school auditorium Tuesday night urged forming a chamber of commerce. Speakers from Gonzales Cuero and Cuero outlined benefits, cooperation, and community improvements including a Cuero creamery with about $20,000 monthly checks. The Eagle hopes for early organization amid questions and strong local support.

Work began last week on Highway No. 109 between Yoakum and Hochheim a distance of about 10 miles. Construction on Moulton's link of Highway 109 is expected to start soon.

The Moulton Lutheran Frauen Verein held a February meeting at Lutheran Hall with January committees discharged and new appointments announced. Members include Arnold Wiedemann and Wm Woehler Jr for membership, and Leona Janszen for membership, with sick list and decorating roles named. Hostesses Henry Koester Sr, August Loeckstedt, George Mueller, and August Kuehn Sr plan the March 1 meeting.

Mr and Mrs Ed Wenske welcomed a daughter Italy Mae on February 3 at Komensky. Nearby, Mr and Mrs Willie Gertner celebrated the birth of Lillie Mary on February 65 at their home near Boursville.

Pioneer Resident John Keil Dies at 89 in Scott's School Community

Pioneer resident John Keil died at his home on February 1 and is buried in Flatonia cemetery. Born in Germany March 16, 1838, he came to Texas in 1870 and lived near Flatonia. He married Margaret Kloss in 1872 and had 14 children, eight surviving, plus 31 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
