Sixth Annual South Texas High School Music Festival at Seguin

William F. Kraushaar announces the Sixth Annual Music Festival for South Texas High Schools at Seguin from April 27 to 29. More than 8,000 entries have registered over the past two years, with 33 contests across four auditoriums and the high school football field. E R Tampke leads the college band as festival chairman, and a massed drum and bugle corps pageant will light up Seguin High School field on April 29 under the lights, directed by Eanes B Brophy.

Cemetery Association Holds Meeting in Moulton

The Moulton Public Cemetery Association held its annual meeting on Tuesday electing directors Viadik Boehm Edwin A Jaeggli George Mueller Emil Helweg and Wm H Schodde Officers elected were Viadik Boehm president Wm H Schodde vice president Geo Baur secretary Wm Hillmer treasurer F T Fehrenkamp resigned as president after 35 years of service.

Home Demonstration Club Report

The Moulton Home Demonstration Club met January 16 at the bank building. Mise Pfeiffer visited unexpectedly. A quilt is in progress for display soon. A frame garden demonstration is planned for March at Mrs. Hugo Fisbeck’s home, date to be announced. Next meeting is February 8.

Biehunko-Holland Wedding Here Saturday Evening

Elmo Biehunko and Miss Rosa Lee Holland wed at the Lutheran parsonage Saturday evening January 28 with Rev. E Jacobs officiating. Witnesses were Harvey Louis Fehrenkamp and Miss Anne Neubauer. The bride, daughter of L R Holland of Latin, teaches with Sam and Will Moore Substitute staff. The groom, born and raised in the area, works for EK A Jaeggli produce dealer and serves in the Moulton Fire Department.

Legion Auxiliary Program At Meeting Tonight

Death of Temple Resident John V Havlik Sr

John V Havlik Sr of Temple dies after a minor operation in a Temple hospital on Tuesday night January 24. Born near Kenney Texas September 15 1857, he lived on farms in multiple counties before moving to Temple for his wife’s health. He leaves wife Janie Havlik and six sons four daughters, sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral held January 26 with Rev Hegar at Temple City Cemetery. Fire Station Opening Dance Proves Huge Success

The opening event for the new fire station drew large crowds with 761 tickets sold. Bill Cornelson and his swing orchestra provided music at Herman Hall after weather prompted the relocation from the station venue.

Confederate Veteran Dies at Hallettsville

Joseph Brocker 92, Civil War veteran and long-time Hallettsville resident, died at his home near here. Funeral services were held Sunday. He is survived by two daughters Mrs Walter Vanderheider and Henry Pagel of this place, plus two sons Louis and Mike of Pagel Settlement.

In a tight game Monday night Hallettsville Brahmas beat Moulton Bobkatz 22 to 19 marking likely the last home game of the season. Moulton teams also faced Hallettsville and Yoakum this weekend. The Moulton B String defeated Hallettsville B String 24 to 16. Moulton Bobkittens beat Moulton Girls B. The Moulton High School Band performed several selections.

Wildlife Planning Board Holds First Hallettsville Meeting

The Lavaca County Wildlife Planning Board met at Hallettsville Courthouse on Friday night January 27 to form a permanent organization elect officers and discuss wildlife matters. They adopted resolutions supporting trail hunting with one dog for crippled deer in Lavaca County and concurrent dove and quail seasons. Officers named include Chairman Scott Moore and Vice Chairman Alton C Allen. Committees Educational Legislative Publicity were formed with members from Hallettsville Yoakum Moulton Shiner and Shiner area. The board aims to educate improve public sentiment and work with ranchers on game and wildlife management and environmental conditions. Meetings to be scheduled as needed.

Farmers League Holds Meeting At Hallettsville

The county convention of the Farmers League met in Hallettsville on Saturday with several speakers. Delegates elected to the state convention in Jourdanton were Joe H. Coupa of Shiner and Joe A. Grahmann of Hallettsville, with Frank Jilek of Moulton and J. Wasek of Sweet Home as alternates. A committee was appointed to urge opposition to sales tax measures and inform county representatives in the legislature.
