Two Men Die In Yoakum Hotel Fire

A two story frame hotel in Yoakum known as the St Charles burned in early Tuesday dawn fire. J B Hinkle a 25 year old Kenedy truck driver and J W Haley a 22 year old San Antonio taxi driver died in the blaze. Their bodies were found on an upstairs porch. Several guests escaped in night clothing as the building collapsed into flames. The owner woman was taken to a hospital in shock. Firemen could not determine the fire’s origin.

Siren Control Switch Contract Concluded

The Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and the Moulton Volunteer Fire Department agreed to draft a contract for the installation of a separate switch at the telephone office to operate the siren recently installed by the fire department.

Moulton Boys and Girls Triumph as Waelder Faces Defeat

The Moulton Bobkatz beat Waelder High School 19 to 13 in a boys game. Moulton High girls defeated Waelder girls 40 to 0. Moulton’s second boys team lost to Charlottenburg 9 to 7.

Hitchhikers To Be Placed in Camps Confronts Texas Plan

The government contemplates placing hitchhikers and hoboes in concentration camps by January 1. A dozen Texas cities will host concentration centers. Miss Evelyn Richter traveled to Dickens County for government work. E. B. Neiswanger of San Antonio, VP and general manager of Central Power and Light, visited Moulton on Tuesday.

Red Cross Branch Opens Supply Window in Lavaca County

The Moulton branch of the Lavaca County American Red Cross has received relief supplies for the needy. Applications are limited to those in destitute circumstances. The warehouse in the old Farmers & Merchants State Bank building will run Monday afternoons from 1 to 4, closing only on Christmas and New Year.

Sunday School Christmas Program at Zion’s Lutheran Church

The Moulton Lutheran Sunday School presented its annual Christmas program at Zion's Lutheran Church Wednesday evening. The church was full with pupils' relatives and friends. Pupils received fruit and sweets, and a Christmas tree donated by Mr. F. T. Fehrenkamp, a longtime donor.

Bridge Club Entertained by Mrs Jarosek in Christmas Home

Mrs Lee Jarosek hosted the Bridge Club on Thursday with a festive decor of holly and moss. After six games Mrs Edwin A Jaeggli won high honors and a bread-board set while Mrs Reginald Smith received the guest prize, a jar of bath salts. Refreshments featured Mexican dishes, saltines, corn rolls, pecan pie and hot coffee.

Flatonia Farmer Hurt In Crash

Ed Branecky a farmer living west of Flatonia was in a serious wreck on a highway west of town. He hauled old lumber in a wagon from the Catholic parish when a large truck struck the wagon throwing him into a ditch. His team was crippled and he was brought here for medical treatment.
