Death of Fritz Niemeyer at Knippa
Fritz Niemeyer aged 54 died at his Knippa home on Friday December 8 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Sunday with burial in Knippa cemetery. He was born October 6 1879 in Moulton and married Annie Linbruegger January 16 1900. They lived in Shiner until 1905 then moved to Knippa. Surviving: widow, six children Rudolph of Uvalde Herbert of Crosby Louis of New Braunfels Victor Ada and Elsie of Knippa one brother George of Denison three sisters Mrs J L Janssen Mrs Henry Koester of Moulton and Mrs Emma Juengermann of Shiner. A Farm Mortgage Conciliation Committee for Lavaca County was organized at Yoakum Monday evening with W H Porter of Yoakum as chairman Fred F Fehrenkamp of Moulton as vice chairman Philip Welhausen of Yoakum as secretary M A Hobbs of Hallettsville and J M Canon of Shiner as members. A fire in LaGrange Texas destroyed the first college in Texas named Rutersville College founded in 1840 by Dr Martin Rutter as a non sectarian Methodist mission. The Civil War caused men’s classes to close and the institution later ceased operating.
