Death of Rev A Weber in Plainview Texas

Rev A Weber aged 32 died in Plainview Texas and the body was sent to Fredericksburg for the funeral. He had led nine Panhandle churches and is survived by his widow, parents, three sisters and two brothers serving in France. The Eagle extends sympathy to the bereaved.

Mr Jim Bell Reports Wife Recovering After San Antonio Operation

Jim Bell returned Monday from San Antonio and reports his wife Mrs Bell who had surgery there is doing nicely and will be alright in a few days.

Death of Lavaca County treasurer Edward Mikulenka

Edward Mikulenka longtime Lavaca county treasurer died at his Hallettsville home after an extended illness. He was born in Austria about 51 years ago and came to Texas in 1886, later serving as deputy tax collector before being elected treasurer in 1916. He is survived by his wife and other relatives.

Local residents travel to San Antonio and Shiner for visits while Otto Kempe returns from the Interstate Commerce Commission assignment in Ohio and Pennsylvania. A baby girl arrives to the Wagner family. Adolph Hans is reported slightly wounded in France. a funeral brings many from Bernard Temple and Galveston area to Moulton.

Miss Margaret Alexander Returns From Visit

Miss Margaret Alexander returns to Yoakum Sunday after a visit of several days with her sister Mrs. W C Bittick. The Red Cross Campaign runs December 16 to December 23 inviting citizens to join with heart and dollar. Three airplanes enroute from Waco to Corpus Christi landed in Mr Stainachers pasture two miles north of town Sunday noon and returned Monday afternoon.

Death of Miss Emma Kotzebue Shocks Small City

Miss Emma Kotzebue daughter of C. M. Kotzebue died Sunday morning at eight o clock after a brief illness. She was born at Baursville September 29 1883 and died at age 35 years 2 months and 8 days. Funeral services were held Monday at the Lutheran church with Rev H A Heineke. Interment followed at Baursville Cemetery. Survived by her parents seven sisters and four brothers. The Eagle extends sympathy to the bereaved.

Commissioners Court to Appoint Lavaca County Treasurer

The Lavaca commissioners court will convene in Hallettsville on Monday December 16 to appoint a treasurer to fill the unexpired term of the late Jid Mikulebka. The action follows the death of the previous treasurer and aims to stabilize county finances.

Mr Frank Koenig of this city and Mrs Louise Mueller of Witting were united in matrimony at Shiver Wednesday December 4. Rev William Dzie performed the ceremony. The couple will reside here. The Eagle wishes them happiness.
