Texas Polio Toll Projected to Top 2,800 in 1950
NFIP estimates Texas will report over 2,800 new polio cases in 1950, up 20 percent from 1949’s 2,355. Through November 18, 1950, Texas had 2,684 cases. 1949 saw 217 in November December. Texas received about $322,708 more from NFIP than it sent to national HQ over three years, relying on other states for funding.

Mass for 128 Knights of Columbus Parish officers attend service
One hundred twenty eight members of Council No. 3244 paraded to St. Josephs Church for the eight oclock Mass on Sunday December 3. The sermon was by Rev John Matocha. After Mass a communion breakfast followed at the Parish Hall with speakers Grand Knight Willie Novosad Dr Hugo J Strieder Rev Joseph Kopp and Henry Sonsel. Commemorative exercises were held for deceased member Adolph Ermis who died a year ago. The coldest weather of the season brought 19 degrees above zero Wednesday morning.
