Aged Citizen Mueller Dies at 77 in Witting Community

August B. Mueller longtime resident of the Witting area died at home Saturday afternoon November 29 after a long illness. Funeral Monday at the Lutheran church with Rev. A. H. Falkenberg in charge. Survived by three children Adolph August and Mrs. Ben Staatmann, 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Burial in Witting cemetery.

The Moulton High School girls defeated Shiner 89 to 4 while the boys lost 16 to 13 in Tuesday basketball games at Shiner. The doubleheader saw the girls claim a commanding win and the boys fall in a close contest.

Frank Janota Dies in Los Angeles After Train Accident

Frank Janota died in Los Angeles California on November 23 from injuries suffered when his car was struck by a train on November 21. His body arrived here Tuesday morning and the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at Dehl Undertaking Parlors with interment in Moulton Catholic Cemetery. He was about 48. Surviving are his mother and several brothers and sisters.

Topping Contract To Be Set Next Spring

County Judge Aug W Janszen and Commissioner Frank Matula met in Austin with the Highway Commission to discuss topping State Highway No 109 in the county. State Highway Engineer Gibb Gilchrest said the contract would be let next spring with work starting at the Lavaca Fayette line near Flatonia and ending at Highway 72 in Yoakum. Concrete has been requested though the final road type was not determined.
