Debate on Corruption and Policy Shifts in 1940s Farm Policy
The piece argues that the public bears responsibility for elected leaders and policy failures in the 1940s, criticizing Bascom Giles and soil bank price supports. It questions the Farmers Bureau warnings, notes racism in the Ku Klux Klan while affirming individual worth, and cites Sisley Huddleston's wartime reflections on German defeats. It warns that soil bank policy pushes farming down while surplus parity grows, urging selling cotton at market prices and reevaluating parity protections.
