Valigura visits Novobrad while stationed at Kelly Field. Lutheran synod closes in LaGrange with attendees including J. T. Jaeggli and A. Jaeggli.
The Moulton Concert band reorganized under O. F. Knape last Thursday with members including Fehrenkamp Vogt Kunape Tomasko Heinrich Vogt Elster Etlinger Raab Billimek Rudolph Billimek. They debut publicly May 2 providing music for Hermann Park Verein feast.
Victoria Route A reports continuing dry weather with farmers delaying or halted cotton planting while corn thinning continues. Social notes record several local visits and a play party at Mr and Mrs George McCurry with various residents mentioned by name. A barn and its contents on the Louis Manning place two miles east of Yoakum on the Sweet Hor ne road burned, including an automobile, cow and calf, feed, hogs and chickens. Firemen from Yoakum awakened the sleeping family. Loss about 2000 dollars with little insurance.
Mr a Henry Giesbers of Smithville visited relatives and friends here since our last issue.
Mr Louis Meyer and family from Port Lavaca passed through the city Thursday on their way to Schulenburg and Swiss Alp to visit relatives. They returned Monday.
The Heineke home welcomed a baby girl Friday morning. Local families congratulate Mr and Mrs William Kilell and daughters Erna Koenig and Sophia Krause, and Mrs Frank Bie bunko and son Frank, visiting Yoakum and Shiner. Emil Siems of Shiner renewed support for the newspaper and boasted fifty three chicken hawks killed this season. Civic leaders Otto von Rosenberg W F Stulken Jacob Heye Adolph Miller from Hallettsville and M E Wolters Edgar Merrem of Shiner attended Lavaca County Retail Merchants Association directors meeting Friday.
A Texas campaign on May 1 1920 urges all residents to buy a tag to raise funds for better teachers and to aid children unable to attend public schools. Citizens are asked to contribute any amount and support the school system, with committee leaders named as Mesdames George von Lienen Sam Jaeggli Adele Knesek O Buescher and C C Roeder.
In Oak Grove the rain arrived though not in full measure. Selzer of Nursery visited from Thursday to Sunday to see relatives. Christopher Bossler of Galveston, brother of Mrs. August Linbruegger here, stayed several days. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Boehm returned from Sealy after attending the funeral of Jos. Boehm who died last Monday. Aug Linbruegger and family and Christopher Bossler drove to Wied to see kin. April 27, 1920.
Mr Johnnie Meyer and Miss Siddie Merrem wed in San Antonio at 10 30 in the morning. The bride is daughter of E T Merrem of Rosenberg and the groom son of Mrs Henry Meyer of San Antonio. They will reside in San Antonio and the Eagle extends best wishes.
Notice to the public from the Moulton Cemetery Association warns that no portion of the cemetery property may be used as a dumping ground and urges the public to discontinue this practice.
Rudolph Brueggmann and Hetty Kretschmer, leading Buursville figures, were married in Hallettsville last Tuesday. The Eagle wishes them lasting happiness.
Miss Lillian Jaeggli organized a Friday picnic for the graduating class. At 6 o'clock the group traveled by car to a site near a railroad bridge south of town. Games flowed, refreshments were served, and many names attend, including J C Jaeggli and family, Roe der, Studeman, Meiners, Fahbrenthold, McDonald, Morgenroth, Ruhman, Preston, Richter, Buescher, Yoakum, Brunkenhoefer, Oebl, Kotzebue, Papacek, Mueller, Egg, Studeman, Edwin Jaeggli, and Leroy Buescher.
W T Bagby of Lavaca County addressed about 155 people at the Fredericksburg courthouse announcing support for old time democratic principles. He criticized expansion of federal power and erosion of state and individual rights and said he will return in July for another political address.
Mrs Joe Schmidt died at her home near Oak Grove on Tuesday April 27 after a short illness. Funeral services were held at Moulton Catholic Cemetery with Rev Father Kopp presiding. Born Bertha Oebl in Germany sixty six years ago she came to Texas in 1881 and married Joe Schmidt in 1882. She is survived by her husband two daughters Bertha and Emma two sons John and Joe and four grandchildren two brothers Frank Oehl of near Moulton and a sister Mrs Neutzler of Wichita Falls. The Eagle extends sympathy to the family.
Hallettsville Texas April 21 an overall club has formed here to combat high clothing costs. A circulating list gathered signatures from citizens agreeing to wear overalls until September 1 to aid the effort.

The Mou ton Cemetery Association met at the opera house with I T Fehrenkamp presiding in the treasurer absent. The secretary reported a cash balance of 1800.43 at First State Bank and recommended continuing water works, erecting a windmill and tank, and installing large gates at the south and east entrances at cost via F T Febreckamp.
Robert Flessner infant son of Mr. and Mrs. George Flessner died Friday and was buried Saturday in Shiner cemetery. The Eagle offers sympathy to the grieving parents.
