Lavaca county’s cotton acreage reduction contracts were certified to Washington by the state board of review on April 16, placing the county sixth in the state. About 64 759 acres are under contracts of the five year average 98 120 acres, with 23 666 rented to the government.
Judge E J Motis announced the Catholic State Meet will be held in Yoakum Texas on July 4 and 5 with prominent speakers. Governor candidates Clint Small C C McDonald Tom Hunter and James V Allred are expected to attend one of the days. Dallas attorney general candidate Wm McGrave has accepted July 5 invitation.
A wedding was solemnized April 10, 1984, at 4 30 P M in Witting Lutheran Church uniting Miss Laura Michaelis of Witting and Mr John Strban of Shiner in a ceremony led by Rev A H Falkenberg. The couple and families hosted a dinner at the bride's home and friends offered best wishes for a long, happy married life.
Lavaca County Tax Collector H. J. Schornack urges payment of delinquent taxes before June 30 to avoid rising penalties. After June 30 1934 the 16 percent penalty and 6 percent interest will apply, with increasing rates for 1930 1931 and 1932 delinquents and additional costs.
The Lavaca County Commissioners Court will hear bids May 1 1934 at 10 a m at the Hallettsville Courthouse for a six ton diesel crawler tractor and related road machinery. A certified check equal to five percent of the bid is required. Aug Janszen County Judge.
