The Moulton Fire Department announces its annual dance at Hermann Park Hall on Saturday April 22. Two orchestras will provide music and community support is urged as the department remains a valued town asset. Buy a ticket to aid the firefighters.
A historical note reports that the Graf Zeppelin completed thirty three ocean crossings. It contrasts with data from 1932 showing motor vehicle taxes at roughly $1,250 per mile of paved highway.
Local Committee Makes Many Loans through the Crop Production Loan Office. Loans are due October 31, 1933 with interest at 5 1 2 percent. April 31st is the last day for applications this year.
A fair sized audience enjoyed the comedy A Howling Success presented by Flatonia talent at the Moulton High School Auditorium Thursday evening April 6 for the benefit of Geier Merrem Post No 392 American Legion.
Floresville was chosen for the next annual meeting of the Fifth District Parent Teacher Association after a convention that drew about 300 delegates from 19 counties. The selection was announced at the close of the Friday and Saturday sessions.
Ernest Zikuhr longtime Mont resident Lavaca County died at his home Sunday April 9 aged 84 and 2 months. Funeral by Rev A H Falkenberg Lutheran of Moulton at Hallettsville City Cemetery. Survived by seven children Albert Glidden August El Campo Fritz Henry Emma Annie Mathilde all of Mont.
In this issue The Eagle reports Kotzebue Drug Company will hold another 1 cent sale on Thursday Friday and Saturday April 20 21 and 22. The promotion draws shoppers to Kotzebue for discounts and special pricing at the local store.
The Moulton High School baseball team defeated Waelder 17 to 0 at Waelder Friday afternoon and beat Hallettsville 12 to 3 on the local diamond Monday afternoon.
Ferdinand Sokol age 75 longtime Hallettsville resident died Saturday. Burial was held Monday in Hallettsville Catholic Cemetery with Rev Mathis officiating. Survived by his widow and three children.
At the invitation of Superintendent W. E. Smith the Moulton Juvenile Orchestra performed at a school assembly in the High School Auditorium Thursday morning. The program was very pleasing and well received.
Mr and Mrs Leon Schoenig of Lockhart spent Sunday with their parents Mr and Mrs O F Knape. Clarence Knape joined them for the return trip to Lockhart Sunday evening.

Moore Avenue from West First to Lancaster is paved with sandstone this week. County furnished material, R Fikes paid part of labor, residents donated about 175 dollars. Commissioner Arnold Freytag found road material on the W H Schodde place and will use it. Rural districts show notable road work with farmers donating wagons for hauling.
A Saturday afternoon crowd enjoyed the Komensky School production Rube and His Ma with Otto Pavlicek Eugene Hollub James Pavlicek Sophie Motal Julius Tkac Irene Wenske Martha Pavlas Leonita Pavias. A short negro play The Music and Pake detectives featured James Pavlicek and Rudy Schoenfeld. The event raised 22 dollars and praises the P T A Band for music and help.
Mrs Georgia Mace has accepted employment in the mercantile establishment of R B Papakek.
The Colorado Valley Baseball League opens its 1983 schedule Sunday April 16 with Flatonia and Moulton facing off at Sulphur Park. Six teams compete: Flatonia Weimar La Grange Fayetteville Ellinger and Moulton.
The Moulton Luther League began rehearsals for a play to be staged next month under the direction of Mrs. W. E. Smith.
Henry Pohler and his sister Mrs. William Aschenbeck return to Houston Tuesday afternoon after a pleasant visit with their father Henry Pohler and other relatives.
Mr and Mrs W A Bergfeld and others spent Monday in Houston. Mr and Mrs Ed Kolar with son Edward James visited Yoakum with relatives. F T Fehrenkamp and Dorothy Fehrenkamp with Virginia Valenta visited the Gerhard Fehrenkamp home at Ellinger Sunday. B W Fehrenkamp accompanied them back.
Superintendent W E Smith and Wallace Casey attended a Texas education conference in Austin with about 250 superintendents and school board members. Prominent educators and lawmakers spoke as projections suggested a per capita apportionment around 7.50 dollars for the next school year, with many districts unable to offer a full term. Casey notes the legislature is the barometer of public concerns.
Texas education news reports state Superintendent Woods confirming the fourth per capita payment of the school appropriation as $2 per student, totaling $3,135,495 this year and bringing total disbursements to $10,978,928 for 1933. The year’s payments are subject to tax collections and final dates undetermined.
James K Harris 66 principal of Navarro School and pioneer educator died suddenly en route to a hospital in San Antonio after working in his garden. He was buried today. A native of Moulton, survivors include daughter Mrs Anna Bell Richardson of San Antonio brother M M Harris of Blessing and five sisters. He was remembered by older citizens, reared at Old Moulton and left about 40 years ago.
President Roosevelt reduces his own salary by 15 percent effective March 4, matching the new policy for government workers. His first self administered deduction from his $75,000 annual pay amounted to 843.75 dollars as he cashed the first check Friday.
Mrs Otto Granz 538 died at her home in Shiner on Wednesday April 5. Burial followed on Thursday in Shiner City Cemetery with Rev Schuetze Lutheran minister officiating. She is survived by her husband and four children.
Mrs. Vladik Culak nee Mary Lida Stavinoha aged 30 years 7 months 25 days died at her home east of Moulton April 6 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at St. Josephs Catholic Church and interment followed at Moulton Catholic Cemetery Rev Joseph Kopp officiating. Pallbearers were Emil Jaluka Ed Kolar August Menar Rud Mueller Albert Ermis and Joe Meyer. Survived by husband six sisters and three brothers. The Eagle extends sympathy.
Louis J. Meiserschlaeger of Austin, World War veteran, died in a San Antonio hospital on Tuesday morning, April 4. Burial was in Austin on Thursday, April 6, with Simms conducting a Christian Science service and the American Legion providing pallbearers, colors, guards, and a firing squad for military rites. Survived by his widow and three children of Austin, his aged father K Meiserschlaeger, two sisters Mrs F J Schoenfeld and Miss Mary Meiserschlaeger, and brother Frank Meiserschlaeger, all of near Moulton.
The Bohemian Dramatic Club directed by Emil Dar ilek will present a play at Catholic Hall on Sunday night April 16. Proceeds benefit the church and the public is invited to attend.
