The Pioneer Baptist preachers in Lauderdale County Alabama formed in 1825 with churches from Tennessee and Lauderdale, shifting from anti Missionary roots to limited Missionary growth by 1860. Notable figures include Elder William Leigh, Basil Manly, Thos F Curtis, John L Dage, Alva Woods, and Dr. Woods as State University president. Lauderdale County Baptist Association grew to 15 churches and 1000 plus members.

Middleton, Nathan Roberts, Hose Holcombe, and connections to Cahaba and Panola associations. Dear Editors correction shows that in issue June 14th third column No 6 line 20 should read Dr R B C Howell not Dr R C Burleson. Burleson was never Pastor of Nashville First Baptist Church. The author accepts fault if misprint occurred and asks notice be printed in the next issue.
