National War Savings Day Proclaimed for June 28
President Wilson and state governors designate Friday June 28 as National War Savings Day. School meetings will organize and pledge two billion dollars in War Savings Stamps. Trustees report attendees and pledges to Washington, including nonparticipants. Participants lend money with four percent interest compounded semi annually.

New Regulations Governing Sugar
Montgomery Alabama June 15 Dear Sir The Food Administration seeks to provide sugar for home canning while enforcing strict limits. Shipping board took over tonnage since March 21 and submarines sank large sugar shipments. Merchants told not to sell more than 2 pounds to city customers and 5 pounds to country customers, except 25 pounds for canning. Household pledges require sugar be used for preserving only. Officials urge substitution with corn syrup and guidance from County Demonstration Agents.
