The amendment to Alabama constitution to be voted on February 8 is not yet backed by an organized campaign. A second proposed provision for selling 5.9 million of road bonds at 6 percent interest, instead of 5 percent, will be submitted by acts from a recent special legislative session. Erskine Ramsay, chairman of the Alabama Division of the European Relief Council, announced that the official appeal dates will be advanced from February 19 to March 6. The plan aims to extend a statewide fundraising drive, building a strong organization with committees and teams to reach nearly every factory, store, office, and home in the state.

Income tax in a nutshell for 1920 filers

Single persons with net income of 1000 or more for 1920 and married couples with net income of 2000 must file by the final date and make first payments. Collector of Internal Revenue serves the district of residence. Full directions on Forms 1040A and 1040, law and regulations. Four percent tax on taxable income up to 4000 over exemptions, eight percent on the remaining, and surtax from 1 to 65 percent on net income over 5000.
