A lyrical, vintage verse extols enduring love as a couple pledge lifelong fidelity. The refrain repeats It’s we two for age with lines about heaven as their stay and a wedding day promise. The piece envisions shared joys, mutual support, and a steadfast future through sunlit and darker times.
Advertisement rates listed include one dollar per eight lines for ads and fifty cents for each additional insertion. Annual ads receive liberal deletion. Public notices announce district and county candidates with ten and five dollar fees respectively for listings. Job work and special notices priced at twenty cents per line.
Advertisement-style claim extols Dr Duncan's Worm Syrup as safe pleasant to make and never ill with eager exhortation to try it.
A vintage advertisement touts Duncan's Liver and Kidney Medicine as a cure for diseases of the liver and kidney origin, listing symptoms such as headaches, dyspepsia, loss of appetite, heartburn, and females' ailments. It claims vegetable composition and superior efficacy, priced at 75 cents and available by sale.
Stop that pain and cramps with Dr Duncan's famous Vegetable Liver Pills. The ad claims relief for headaches toothaches rheumatism neuralgia bruises sprains and stomach troubles in people and instant cure for colic in horses. One box lasts longer than two of other pills and acts on the liver.
Special notice claims instant cure for ulcers boils cuts burns piles ringworm frost bite chapped lips or hands and other eruptions with carbolic acid ointment. Also advertised cures for horse backs shoulders or scratches. Ends with urging to try it.
GooDnD NEWS urges readers to use Dr Duncan’s Cough Balsam for immediate relief of lung and throat ailments including sore throat coughs colds asthma spitting blood and even croup in children. It claims a mother cannot be without it after one trial and notes a fifty cent price.
Better than quinine, Dr C P Duncan's Chill Tonic offers a speedy, certain cure for malaria. It contains no arsenic or strychnine, avoiding common side effects of mineral medicines. The tonic purifies blood, builds strength, and one bottle equals three dollars worth of quinine.
Mrs C Krabe of 638 West Baltimore St says VEGETINE relieved a years long sore painful foot after one bottle and continued to heal with a second. She cites a lady’s recommendation and thanks Mr R Stevens for the remedy. The note from BattMore Mo dated February 13 1877 endorses VEGETINE as healthful.
W. H. Clark of 120 Monterey Street Alleghany Penn says Vegetine restored his general debility and nervous prostration after overwork and irregular habits. He endorses Vegetine as a safe, sure, and powerful health restorer and expects no better medicine.
In Chalestown H R Stevens receives a testimonial from Mrs. A A Dinsmore of 19 Russell Street praising the Blood Preparation as excellent for scrofula cankerous rumors rheumatic affections and as a purifier and spring medicine.
In Boston on February 13 1871 A L Pettengill of the firm S M Pettengill & Co writes that after a year of general debility Vegetine restored his health after several bottles and that he recommends the medicine to others seeking restoration to perfect health He signs No 10 State St Boston H R Stevens Esq receives the testimonial
Thomas E Moore of Card Room Portsmouth Co's Is reports ten years of severe dyspepsia well treated since September with VeGETINE. He claims improved digestion and a fifteen pound gain while noting others in VEGETINE use in the same town also found relief.
A proposed act would grant Justices of the Peace and Notaries Public in Lauderdale Wilcox and Lawrence counties equal jurisdiction with the Circuit Court over petit larceny assault and related offenses within precincts. If no local official is available trials may move to a competent adjoining precinct. The bill ties procedures to specified Alabama code sections and repeals conflicting laws. The rest of the text discusses a Monthly Royal Scrap Book magazine and advertisements for a 1864 music work by Prof Henry Schoeller and Ludden Bates with subscription details.
