The upcoming Southern Baptist Convention meets May 12 to 16 in Chattanooga. It reports rising church membership from 1,365,784 in 1906 to 2,861,248 in 1920 and expects 1921 gains. The Carroll A. Deering, a Bath built schooner, sailed from Rio de Janeiro last December and vanished at Diamond Shoals. Ghost ship of the Atlantic, its master and crew are missing with no record of the last voyage, no survivors, and no signs of what happened.
The National Adoption society of England has perfected a plan to send many British babies to the United States for adoption. The babies include orphans illegitimate children or children of parents unable to care for them. The plan stalls on a technicality in immigration laws. It aims to overcome this by having individual Americans sponsor financially each baby sent over.
Mil ton Jenkins thirteen of Baltimore Maryland set fire to a church after his parents ordered him to attend Sabbath school. Police report the boy confessed saying he could not think of another way to avoid attendance. No injuries were reported.
